Abstract
The invention concerns a se1f-adapting bicyclelock. In stead of adapting the wheel to the bicyclelock , the bicyclelock will adapt it self to the wheel. This will eliminate the need to rotate the wheel of the bike when the bicyclelock a ligns with one of the spokes of the wheel. By connecting the bicyclelock trough a rubber medium to the frame and using a conically shapedend on the lockingpin a self-adaptive system is realised .
Description
Se1f-A dapting Bicycle Lock
Conventional bicycle locks are unable to close and lock a bike when the bicycle lock aligns with one of the spokes of the wheel. This problem is nowadays solved by rotating the wheel of the bike, through lifting or moving the entire bike. This is often hard to accomplish because of restricted movability due to bicycle parking and the increasing weight of bicycles due to the introduction of electric bicycles.
The invention concerns a s e 1 f - ad ap t i n g bicycle lock. Instead of adapting the wheel to the bicycle lock, the bicycle lock will adapt itself to the wheel. This will eliminate the need to rotate the wheel of the bike when the bicycle lock aligns with one of the spokes of the wheel.
By introducing a rotational axis between the bicycle lock and the bicycle frame, by means of a rubber material, the locking pin of the lock can be adjusted to move out of the way of the spokes.
Due to the properties of the rubber material the hinge will dampen vibrations and the bicycle lock can be rotated in both directions about its initial position.
By using a conically shaped end on the locking pin of the bicycle lock, the lock can guide itself past the spokes of the wheel. This way the lock can adapt its position automatically.
The exact nature of this invention, as well as its objectives becomes clear in the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig.l Is a three dimensional drawing of the invention showing the adaptive bicycle lock mounted on a bicycle frame.
Figure 1 shows the system, where the bicycle frame 1 on which brackets 2 are clamped is connected through a rubber medium 3 with the bicycle lock 4. The rubber medium 3 is flexible and enables a rotation about the Y-axis, which results in a translational freedom of the locking pin 5 in X-direction with respect to the spokes 6. The locking pin 5 has a conically shaped end which guides the locking pin 5 past the spokes 6 of the wheel 7 and makes the bicycle lock 4 s e 1 f-a d a p t i n g .
