Description
SELFIE FUN CARDS ON A STICK
TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to attributes for creating a scene for a photograph. More particular the invention relates to a card and use of a card for adding a graphical presentation to a photograph.
BACKGROUND
Ever since the invention of photography, people have manipulated photos after they were taken. Before the invention of digital photography, the printed pictures were often used to make collages, i.e. parts of pictures were cut out and stuck to a paper. On the other hand also pictures were combined with other pictures or stickers were added to them. These stickers contained a funny text or symbols. For example under the brand name (Original) Fotosticker, little stickers are still for sale, to stick on printed pictures. After the invention of digital photography the post processing of the pictures became much easier. Software programs like Photoshop or the app Wikimagic Camera were used to manipulate the pictures by adding or removing elements of the picture after the picture was taken. It became also very easy to add an illustration, symbols or text to the digital picture.
Another interesting aspect of the invention of photography was the phenomena called “selfie”. A selfie is a self-portrait photograph, nowadays typically taken with a hand-held digital camera or camera phone. Selfies are often shared on social networking services such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. They are usually flattering and made to appear casual. Most selfies are taken with a camera held at arm's length or pointed at a mirror, rather than by using a self-timer. Recently specialized holders for the cameras became available which extent the reach of the one taking the selfie. These so called selfie sticks. A selfie stick is a monopod used to take selfie photographs by positioning a smartphone or camera beyond the normal range of the arm. The metal sticks are typically extensible, with a handle on one end and an adjustable clamp on the other end to hold a phone in place. Some have remote or Bluetooth controls, letting the user decide when to take the picture, and models designed for cameras have a mirror behind the view screen so that the shot can be lined up. The selfie stick also enables photographing a larger area of the portrayed person and a larger part of the background.
Although post processing of digital pictures and adding stickers to printed pictures provide nice touches, fun, or information to the picture, it is usually very noticeable that the pictures are manipulated after taking of the picture.
DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION
It is an object of the present invention to provide a solution for adding elements to a picture which are captured at the moment of taking the picture. It is a further object of the invention to facilitate the adding of elements in an easy to use, cost-efficient and flexible manner.
The object is realized by providing a device (hereinafter referred to as “card”) which is added to the scene to be photographed. The scene may comprise a person or a portrait. The card may be held by the person within the picture frame. The person may take the picture himself (selfie) or another person may be taking the picture. The card may comprise a graphical presentation such as a text, a picture or a symbol. The text may for example comprise a text which states the time and place of the scene, or an instruction for future reference. It may also comprise a funny text, referring to comic books for example. In order for the user of the card to be more flexible in choosing the right card for the right situation and too prevent waste and unnecessary luggage at the same time, the card part may be exchangeable, while a single holder of the card is arranged for removably holding one or more cards sequentially or simultaneously. The holder may be a wooden or bamboo stick, while the card part may be made of cardboard for example. The cardboard may also be a blank card with room to write one’s own text. Instead of a cardboard card the card part may also comprise an electronic display, such as a LED display or e-ink display. This facilitates even more flexibility in changing of the graphical presentation.
The invention comprises a device comprising a holder part and a first display part, said first display part arranged for displaying a graphical presentation, wherein the graphical presentation is arranged for being used as addition to a picture or video to be taken with a camera and/or a camera comprised in a mobile device.
Further embodiments may comprise the following:
The holder part and first display part comprise separate parts, wherein the holder part comprises a clamping means arranged for clamping the first display part.
The first display part comprises a card.
The clamping means comprises a recess in the holder part, arranged for clamping at least part of the first display part.
The recess is at least partly tapered.
The recess is arranged for removably clamping the at least part of the first display part. The first display part further comprises a holding means arranged for removably holding a second display part.
The first display part comprises a metal arranged for holding the second display part, whereby the second display part contains a magnet. This enables easy connection and disconnection. Alternatively Velcro may be used.
The first display part comprises a plain surface, whereby the second display part comprises a sticker.
The graphical presentation is a substantially self-colored card.
The color is blue or green. In this case the device may be used as a blue screen, green screen, Chroma-key or travel matte. A camera may be equipped with software to superimpose an illustration on the display part, when taking a picture. Alternatively after taking of the picture the picture may be easily manipulated by superimposing an illustration on the display part.
The graphical presentation is any presentation of the group of presentations comprising: a text such as an instruction, a funny text or an onomatopoeia; a text balloon, whereby the first display part is cut in the shape of a text balloon; a picture; a symbol, such as a smiley or an icon.
The first display part comprises an electronic display. For example an LCD display, e-ink display or LED segment display may be used for this purpose.
The second display part comprises an electronic display.
The first display part comprises a surface, such as a white board, arranged for being written on.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The figures show views of embodiments in accordance with the present invention. FIGURE 1 shows a device comprising a holder part and a first display part. FIGURE 2a shows an isometric view of a detail of a separate holder. FIGURE 2b shows a front view of a separate holder part comprising a stick with a recess. FIGURE 2c shows a front view of a separate holder part comprising a stick with recess which is tapered at the end. FIGURE 3 shows an example of a display part. FIGURE 4 show a user holding a selfie stick to which a camera or smartphone with built in camera is connected.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The invention is now described by the following aspects and embodiments, with reference to the figures. FIGURE 1 shows a device 100 according to the invention comprising a holder part 101 and a first display part 102. The holder part 101 and display part 102 may be integrated, or may be separated. In the case wherein the display part 102 is separated from the holder part, a user may change the display part 102 to his or her likes. For example a text such as “Boom” may be displayed in order to illustrate a very exiting scene. FIGURE 2a shows an isometric view of a detail of a separate holder 101, wherein a recess 103 is provided which is arranged to connect a separate display part 102. Display part 102 may be inserted in recess 103 and held tightly by the clamping force provided by the sides of recess 103. FIGURE 2b shows a front view of a separate holder part 101 comprising a stick with recess 103. FIGURE 2c shows a front view of a separate holder part 101 comprising a stick with recess 103 which is tapered at the end. The tapered end provides an easy accessible and guiding insertion of display part 102. This also prevents damage of display part 102 when inserting, especially when display part 102 is made of cardboard, considering the clamping force of the sides of recess 103. FIGURE 3 shows an example of a display part 102. The shape is referring to a cloud which is often used in comic books to illustrate that the character is thinking. A second recess 105 is provided to be slid over the holder when display part 102 is further inserted in holder part 101. FIGURE 4 show a user 300 holding a selfie stick 202 to which a camera 201 or smartphone with built in camera 201 is connected. User 300 holds the invented device 100 in the other hand. In this way the user may take a picture of herself (a so called “selfie”) while illustrating the scene with a personal expression on the display part 102.
