The present invention relates to a shielding cap for shielding a container containing a drink, such as a glass with drink or lemonade, a sundae and the like, against direct sunlight.

If one consumes a drink outside on a terrace in the summer, one is confronted with the fact that the consumption by direct sunlight will heat up quickly, so that the refreshing effect of this will be lost and this often does not benefit the taste.

In order to prevent the direct sun radiation from occurring, the present invention provides a protective cap, comprising a base surface on which the container 10 can be placed with the consumption, which base surface is provided with an upright wall along at least a part of the circumference thereof. at its upper end carries an upper wall which at least partially overlaps the base surface.

By placing the holder on the ground surface and turning the upright wall in the direction of the sun, the consumption fully curbs the consumption and the direct solar radiation has no adverse effect on this. Because the holder stands on the base, the protective cover is firmly anchored and cannot be blown away by the wind.

The base can have a round or polygonal shape, the raised wall covering a circumference angle β that is between 90 and 180 °.

Preferably the top wall rises from the upright wall with a slight angle in order to make the cover caps stackable.

The outside of the upright wall, but also the base and the top wall can be used effectively for advertising inscriptions.

Figures 1 and 2 show a side view of the screening cap according to the present invention, indicated in its entirety by reference numeral 1, wherein the screening cap is used, for example, to protect a beer glass 2 against direct sunlight.

The shielding cap 1 consists of a base surface 3, which in the case shown has an octagonal shape, and of an upright wall 4, which extends upwards along at least a part of the circumference of the base surface, and of one with the top connected at the end of the upright wall, the wall at least partially overlapping, top wall 5.

As can clearly be seen in the figures, the upright wall is perpendicular to the base surface 3 and extends along a part of the circumference thereof. In the example shown, the raised wall extends over three of the eight sides, so that the circumferential angle β in this case is 135 °.

The upper wall 5 arranged at the upper end of the upright wall has a sufficient distance from the base surface that a consumption, such as in the case shown a beer glass 2, can be placed on the base surface, the top wall 5 largely placing the beer glass on a covers.

The top wall 5 rises from the upright wall with a slight angle α of approximately 10 °. This makes it possible to stack a number of such screening caps 20 with their upright walls, so that they take up less space during transport and storage.

It will be clear that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown here, but that a large number of modifications and variants are possible within the scope of the appended claims.
