Description
The invention relates to a method for utilizing wind energy, in which an air flow is guided along an element increasing the flow velocity to produce an underpressure zone, wherein the underpressure zone obtained by the element increasing the flow velocity is used to generate a second fluid flow in a conduit with an inlet port and a vent opening by placing the vent port of the conduit in the depression zone, the second fluid flow generated in the conduit then being used at a location upstream of the vent port to generate energy.
A method for utilizing wind energy is known from practice and is applied, inter alia, using windmills. The blade of the windmill hereby forms an element that increases the flow velocity, thereby providing a negative pressure zone.
The drawback of the above-mentioned known method is that use is made of a rotating or otherwise dynamic element to obtain the underpressure zone. These dynamic elements should be able to withstand very severe weather conditions, such as a storm with wind speeds of hurricane force. To this end, the dynamic elements must be made very heavy and in very durable and expensive materials in order to prevent the elements from becoming detached.
A further drawback of the above-mentioned known method is that maintenance of these moving parts is necessary, partly because use is made of moving parts located under the influence of the weather conditions. Moreover, this maintenance is very expensive, since these moving parts are usually located high above the ground.
Another drawback of the known method is that its application produces considerable horizon pollution. For example, windmills are usually placed in the open field, making them all the more noticeable. Installation of 101 320 5 · ^ - 2 - windmills in residential areas is not possible, however, due to the danger of loosening moving parts. Also, placing a windmill on a building is not possible because of the heavy construction of the windmill and the vibrations that are caused in use by, for example, vibrations in the moving parts of the windmill.
Furthermore, the known method produces a considerable noise nuisance, which is caused by rotating moving parts, such as the blades of a windmill.
In addition, many victims fall under (migratory) birds because they end up between the rotating blades of the windmill.

20 Een werkwijze volgens de aanhef is bekend uit US-5.709.419.A method according to the preamble is known from US-5,709,419.
US 5,709,419 relates to a method and apparatus for collecting energy from wind using the Bemoulli effect and converting it into usable energy forms.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a uniform second fluid flow in the conduit, so as not to overload an agent to be used for generating energy from the second fluid flow, such as a turbine. This object is achieved according to the present invention by a wind energy utilization method in which an air flow is passed along a flow rate increasing element to provide a negative pressure zone using the negative pressure zone obtained by the flow rate increasing element. generating a second fluid flow in a conduit with an inlet opening and an outlet opening by placing the outlet opening of the conduit in the underpressure zone, the second fluid stream generated in the conduit then located at an upstream of the outlet opening site is used for generating energy, characterized in that the underpressure is buffered downstream of the site for generating energy.
This results in a uniform second fluid flow in the pipe, so that an agent to be used for generating energy (for instance mechanical or electrical) from the second fluid flow, such as for instance a turbine, is not overloaded. For example, in the case of air, the negative pressure in the conduit can be buffered as a second fluid flow by incorporating a buffer chamber or buffer vessel in the conduit, or by locally widening the conduit.
The method according to the present invention uses wind energy with simple means. An important advantage of the method of the present invention is that no visibly rotating parts are used. In the case of wind energy, this therefore produces less horizon pollution. Moreover, according to the invention, less maintenance will be required, since no moving parts - usually maintenance-sensitive - need to be exposed to harsh weather conditions. In the method according to the invention, there are also no victims among birds.
As the element that increases the flow velocity, generally any element which provides a (local) increase in the flow speed can be used. For example, corners, a roof edge or a ridge of a building can be used to (locally) increase the wind speed.
In addition to a gas flow (for example air), a "fluid flow" can also be understood to mean a liquid flow (such as water).
It is preferable according to the method according to the invention that a concave surface is used as the flow-rate increasing element.
With this, the flow velocity, if the air flow is conducted along 1013205 * - 4 - the concave surface, is considerably increased.
A plastic or metal surface can for instance be used as a concave surface. Use can also be made, for example, of existing concave surfaces, such as for instance a dike, a wall of a building, delta-5 works and the like. Several buildings with concave design can also be used.
In principle, a single concave surface is sufficient to increase the flow velocity to produce an underpressure zone. However, it is preferable that the airflow guided along the concave plane is additionally guided along a second plane, the second plane being positioned relative to the first plane such that an opening is obtained between the first and the second plane.
In addition, according to a particularly preferred embodiment of the method according to the present invention, an overpressure zone is created, wherein an inlet opening of the conduit situated upstream of the place for generating energy is placed in the overpressure zone.
This accelerates the second fluid flow in the line. An overpressure can for instance be created by placing an object in the air flow, whereby an accumulation of air - the overpressure - is locally obtained in front of the object.
Preferably, the overpressure is buffered upstream of the power generation site, in order to obtain a uniform second fluid flow in the conduit to prevent overloading of an energy generating means such as a turbine.
The invention also relates to a device for utilizing wind energy, the device comprising: - a pipe with an inlet opening and an outlet opening, which outlet opening is placed such that it is in use in an underpressure zone generated by an air flow, which negative pressure zone in use generates a second fluid flow 30 in the conduit towards the discharge opening; - a means connected to the conduit, upstream of the discharge opening 10132051-5 - for generating energy from the second fluid flow obtained in use, characterized in that the device between the discharge opening and the means for generating energy a buffer for the depression zone.
Hereby, in use, a uniform second fluid flow is provided through the conduit between the discharge opening and the energy generating means.
With the device according to the present invention, a wind-generated vacuum zone can be used in a simple manner. For example, the discharge opening of the conduit in use can be placed in a wind-generated underpressure zone at a dike, building and the like. The underpressure zone then in use generates a second fluid flow in the conduit toward the discharge opening. This second fluid flow can then be used to generate energy.
A further advantage of the device according to the present invention compared to known devices such as a windmill is that the device according to the invention can be made practically vibration-free; this also makes it possible to place the device in, on or to existing buildings.
Moreover, the device according to the invention requires virtually no maintenance, since no maintenance-sensitive parts, such as for instance a turbine, are exposed to weather conditions. Also, the turbine will be driven by a second fluid flow generated by the airflow in a conduit, rather than by the airflow, namely wind itself. This means that the turbine will receive much less blows, since the second fluid flow is much more even than the air flow.
According to a preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention, the device comprises an adjustable static element increasing the flow velocity for guiding an air flow along it, yielding the underpressure zone. Preferably this is the flow rate increasing element a concave surface. The device according to the invention will generally comprise a static plane which is adjustable such that it can be adapted to the flow velocity and the wind direction. In use, that is to say at the actual generation of energy 101 3205 * * - 6, the static plane will stand still, unlike, for example, the rotating parts of a known windmill.
It has been found that the device according to the invention provides better results, when the device additionally comprises a second plane, the boiling 5 of the first plane being directed towards the second plane, thereby forming a gap between them. Preferably, the second plane is also a concave plane, the boiling of the first plane being directed towards the boiling of the second plane. This further enhances the suppressions.
As the means for generating energy, the device can in principle contain any possible suitable means. However, it is preferred according to the present invention that the energy generating means is selected from a turbine and a piston system.
According to a further preferred embodiment, the device comprises means for providing an overpressure zone, wherein the inlet opening can be placed in the overpressure zone obtained in use.
This increases the speed of the second fluid flow in the conduit of the device.
In order to keep the second fluid flow in the conduit uniform, it is preferable if the device between the inlet opening and the energy generating means comprises a buffer for the overpressure zone.
The present invention also relates to electricity generated by applying the method or device according to the invention.
Herein: figure 1 shows a schematic cross-sectional side view of the device according to the invention; figure 2 shows a perspective front view of an alternative embodiment of the device according to the invention; Figure 3 shows a cross-sectional top view of the device according to figure 2; and 1 η * o o f \ c · * ί S i · f: · -.s -. Figure 4 is a schematic diagram of part of a possible embodiment of the device according to the invention.
The discharge opening 3 of the pipe 1 is placed at a negative pressure zone 4, which is created by wind (the first fluid flow) against a dune 5 pushes up. Of course, instead of a dune 5, the discharge opening 3 can also be placed at a hill, dike and the like. The pipe 1 can also have more than one inlet opening 2 and outlet opening 3. In use, the underpressure zone 4 will generate a second fluid flow in the line 1, from the inlet opening 2 towards the outlet opening 3. As a fluid in the line 1, a gas such as air, but also a liquid 2, such as water, can be used. The second fluid flow generated in the line 1 is used according to the present invention for generating energy using an energy generating means 6 connected to the line 1. This means 6 for generating energy is located upstream of the discharge opening 3. As means 6, for example, a piston system can be used, but also and preferably a turbine. Preferably, in order to save costs, only one turbine 6 per pipe 1 will be present. Because the agent 6 is not exposed to harsh weather conditions, such as storm, rain and black ice, the agent 6 requires little maintenance. Optionally, another, preferably concave, adjustable static surface 7 (indicated by a dotted line) can be arranged above the dune 5 to enhance the effect of increasing the flow velocity. The plane 7 can have a fixed position; however, the surface 7 can also be designed such that this surface 7 is adjustable depending on the wind strength and wind direction.
Figure 2 shows a perspective front view of an alternative embodiment of the device according to the invention. Figure 2 shows a number of surfaces 7 placed parallel to each other, as can be seen clearly in Figure 3, the surfaces 7 are concave on both sides, leaving a narrowed opening 8 between the surfaces 7. When a wind or water flow (the arrows in the figure indicate the direction of flow) passes through the narrowed openings 8, pressure zones 4 are created because the outlet opening 3 of the pipe 1 in use in a 101 3205 * 1 - 8 - pressure zone 4 is placed, a second fluid flow is thereby generated in the line 1. The second fluid flow generated in the line 1 is then used analogously to figure 1 for generating energy by means of an energy generating means 6 connected to the line 1, such as a turbine. The second fluid flow obtained in the line 1 is further accelerated by the presence of inlet openings 2 which are placed in a (not indicated) overpressure zone.
Figure 3 shows a cross-sectional top view of the device according to Figure 2. It is clearly visible that the surfaces 7 are concave 10 on both sides, so that a narrowed opening 8 remains between the surfaces 7.
Figure 4 finally shows a schematic diagram of part of a possible device according to the invention. Diagrammatically shown are a pipe 1 with an inlet opening 2 and an outlet opening 3. In use, a negative pressure zone 4 and an overpressure zone 9 are created, whereby a second fluid flow 15 is generated from the inlet opening 2 to the outlet opening 3, which pipe drives turbine 6 or the like. Between the turbine 6 and resp. inlet opening 2 and outlet opening 3 are resp. buffer vessels 10 and 11 included. These buffer vessels 10 and 11 prevent the turbine 6 from undergoing too great differences in flow velocity of the fluid in the line 1. Moreover, this maximizes the benefits of wind energy, for example in wind gusts. The buffer vessels 10 and 11 can for instance be provided with unidirectional valves (not shown). Unidirectional valves may also be provided in conduit 1 at other locations.
The present invention is not limited to the above described embodiments, but can be varied in many ways within the scope of the appended claims. For example, one could think of placing wing-shaped plates under or above bridges; placing concave surfaces at windshields along motorways, canals, etc. Other fluid dynamics, in particular aerodynamics, may include conventional means for adjusting the wind speed or the flow speed in general, such as for example aircraft wings known "flaps".
