Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for coating a substrate, and more in particular to a method in which a substrate is coated by suspending a solid covering material.
It is generally known to provide a substrate with a covering material. In the case of a lying surface, such as a floor, solid covering materials such as carpet, wood parts or tiles are generally used for this. For a standing surface, such as a wall, on the other hand, an ironable covering material, such as a wall paint, is often used. Also for a hanging "surface", such as a ceiling, ironable covering materials are often used, while in addition much work is done with so-called system ceilings, frames suspended under the actual ceiling, containing easily detachable and exchangeable panels.
The object of the invention is now to provide a method with which any arbitrary surface, in particular, however, a wall or ceiling, can be coated quickly and easily, and wherein the covering material can also be removed quickly and simply if desired and, if desired, replaced again, for example for 25 maintenance work on the underlying surface. According to the invention this is achieved by a method for suspending a solid coating material from a substrate, which method consists of distributing a number of magnets on the substrate and / or the coating material and distributing it on the coating material and / or the applying a number of adhesive elements of a magnetizable material to the substrate, and placing the coating material on the substrate in such a way that the adhesive elements are pulled against the magnets. Thus, by adhering the coating material to the substrate by means of magnetism, a connection is obtained between the substrate 5 and the coating, which can be formed quickly, but can also be quickly removed again. Moreover, the coating material can be easily prepared on an industrial scale, and this coating material can also be placed by relatively low-skilled personnel.
Preferably, the magnets are placed on the substrate and the adhesive elements on the covering material, since the magnets will generally have to be slightly heavier than the adhesive elements, in order to achieve a sufficient suspension force.
A tight finish of the substrate is obtained when the magnets are embedded in an outer layer of the substrate 20 facing the coating material. This allows the surface to maintain a smooth surface.
When the coating material is a fabric, the adhesive elements are preferably formed by a number of threads of a magnetizable material woven therein. For example, the cover material can be easily prepared for the suspension by means of magnetic force.
On the other hand, when the coating material comprises a layer of matrix material, the adhesive elements can advantageously be formed by filings of a magnetizable material embedded therein. Such a filing is easy to apply and results in an evenly distributed magnetic force.
The invention also relates to an assembly of a substrate and a fixed covering material suspended therefrom, which is manufactured by applying the method as described above. The substrate is preferably a wall or a ceiling. When the ceiling is a system ceiling, with a frame and a number of panels suspended therein, the construction is simple if the magnets are attached to the frame.
Advantageously, such an assembly is provided with means for tensioning the suspended covering material arranged along at least two opposite edges of the substrate. This ensures a tight suspension of the cladding layer and thereby an attractive appearance.
Finally, the invention also relates to a solid coating material which is intended for use in an assembly as described above.
The invention is now elucidated on the basis of two examples, reference being made to the attached drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 een perspectivisch aanzicht toont van een ondergrond, in dit geval een wand, met een aantal 20 verdeeld daarin aangebracht magneten,Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a surface, in this case a wall, with a number of magnets arranged distributed therein,
Fig. 2 een perspectivisch aanzicht is van een geweven bekledingsmateriaal met daarin meegeweven hechtelementen,Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a woven covering material with adhesive elements woven therein,
Fig. 3 een perspectivisch aanzicht is van een 25 bekledingsmateriaal met een matrixlaag waarin als hechtelementen een vijlsel gestrooid is, enFig. 3 is a perspective view of a cladding material with a matrix layer in which a filing is spread as adhesive elements, and
Fig. 4 shows a perspective view of a surface, in this case a ceiling, with a covering material suspended from it.
A base 1 (fig. 1) on which a solid covering material 2 can be suspended is formed, for example, by a wall 3 or a ceiling 4 (fig. 4). Magnets 5 are arranged on the substrate, which, together with adhesive elements 6 of a material which can be attracted by magnets, such as iron, which are applied to the coating material 2, provide an attraction between the coating material 2 and the substrate 1. Both the magnets 5 when the adhesive elements 6 1010952 4 are distributed over the surface of the substrate 1, respectively the covering material 2, so that uniform adhesion is ensured.
In order to obtain a smooth surface, the magnets 5, in the example shown in the form of magnetic strips 13, are embedded in an outer layer of the substrate 1, while the adhesive elements 6 are also integrated in the material of the covering layer. In the event that the foundation 1 forms a ceiling 4, in particular 10 a system ceiling, with a frame 15 and panels 14 suspended therein, the magnets 5 can be included in the panels 14. In this case use can be made of very small rod magnets which can be inserted into panels 14 in NZ direction. In that case, however, it is also possible to simply mount the magnets 5, possibly again in the form of magnetic strips, on the frame 15.
When the covering material 2 is a cloth or fabric 7, the adhesive elements 6 can be formed by interwoven threads 8 of a magnetic material, for example ferrous threads (Fig. 2). However, it is also possible to embed the adhesive elements 6 in a layer of matrix material 9 of the coating 2, for example a synthetic resin layer. Such a construction of the covering 25 2 can advantageously be applied when the substrate forms an industrial system ceiling, which must meet certain requirements with regard to fire safety. As the material for the coating 2, a fire-resistant or fire-retardant fiber, such as glass fiber 30, can then be chosen, which is embedded in the matrix material 9.
In that case, furthermore, very small iron particles can be used as bonding elements 6, for example in the form of iron filings 10 (fig. 3), whereby a virtually completely uniform distribution of the bonding elements 6 over the surface of the coating material 2 is obtained, so that this 1010952 5 material can therefore be applied to the substrate 1 in any position.
In order to further prevent sagging of the coating material 2, in addition to the magnets 5 and 5 adhesive elements 6, provisions 11 may also be provided for tensioning the coating material 2. These tensioning means 11 can be arranged along two opposite edges 12 of the substrate 1, and furthermore have a conventional construction.
With a method and system as described above, any substrate can be quickly and easily provided with a coating layer that adheres well to the substrate, but can also be removed and removed again without too much effort. The coating method according to the invention is particularly suitable for use on standing and hanging surfaces (walls and ceilings).
Although the invention has been described above with reference to a number of examples, it will be clear that it is not limited thereto. Similarly, other types of magnets and adhesive elements could be used than those shown here. Also, the placement of magnets and adhesive elements could be reversed, or both the substrate and the coating material could be provided with magnets and adhesive elements. The scope of the invention is therefore exclusively determined by the following claims.
