Abstract

A terminal device (1) according to the present invention includes: a communication unit (11) that performs wireless communication using a multi-hop communication scheme; and a transmission speed control unit (12) that: upon receiving a change notification while a transmission speed in the communication unit (11) is set to a first transmission speed, causes the communication unit (11) to distribute a first test notification at the first transmission speed, the change notification being for changing the transmission speed to a second transmission speed higher than the first transmission speed, the first test notification being a test notification for announcing that wireless communication at the second transmission speed is to be tested; causes the communication unit (11) to send a first announcement signal at the second transmission speed; sets the transmission speed of the communication unit (11) to the second transmission speed in at least a partial time slot in response to the communication unit (11) successfully receiving a response to the first announcement signal at the second transmission speed; and sets the transmission speed of the communication unit (11) to the first transmission speed in response to failing to receive a response to the first announcement signal within a predetermined period of time.
