Abstract
The present invention relates to a process of producing acetic acid and butyric acid from leachate, characterised by the steps of: pre-treating of said leachate, comprising: removing organic acid and heavy metals from the leachate; sterilizing the leachate through steaming to remove other microorganisms; and adjusting carbohydrate concentration of the leachate to 10-15 g/L using glucose based on measurement of biological oxygen demand (BOD); fermenting the leachate using bacteria to form a fermentation product comprising acetic acid and butyric acid; wherein said fermentation is performed at 37?C with pH 6.5; separating the bacteria from the fermentation product; and separating acetic acid and butyric acid from the fermentation product.
