A plant extract derived from Tinospora crispa comprising a bioactive comprising Borapetoside B, Borapetoside C and Syringin which enables the extract to act as an antihypercholesterolemic agent. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the plant extract and pharmaceutically acceptable .excipients wherein the extract acts as an antihypercholesterolemic agent. Use of the plant extract or pharmaceutical composition for the manufacture of a medicament used in the management of blood cholesterol levels. (Figure 2)
