Abstract

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a seal assembly (200) for sealing and locking a casing hanger (201) to a wellhead (202) includes a lower seal body (214), an upper seal body (216) connected to the lower seal body (214), an inner lock ring disposed between the upper seal body (216) and the lower seal body (214), an external lock ring (206) engaging the upper seal body (216), and an energizing ring (220). The lower seal body (214) is structured and arranged to form a seal with the casing hanger (201) and the wellhead (202). The upper seal body (216) includes a load portion that overhangs a load shoulder (207) of the casing hanger (201). At least a portion of the energizing ring (220) is disposed within an inner groove (217) disposed within the upper seal body (216). The energizing ring (220) locks the inner lock ring into forcible engagement with the casing hanger (201), and locks the external lock ring (206) into engagement with the wellhead (202).
