Abstract

An evaporative condenser (1) for a split-type air conditioning unit comprising a plurality of tubes (2) for allowing refrigerant to flow wherein the individual tubes (2) having a fin (16a) that extends upwardly and a fin (16b) that extends downwardly for separating eddies (17) generated from air stream (163); a water supply system for distributing water onto the tubes (2) and the fins (16a, 16b); and a fan (10) for creating air stream over the tubes (2) and the fins (16a, 16b) for evaporating water that is attached to the tubes (2) and the fins (16a, 16b). The above components including the condenser (1) are packaged in an outdoor unit (3) of the split-type air conditioning unit and in communication with an indoor evaporator unit (9). Fig. 1
