Abstract
A manufacturing method of a glass substrate (100) for a magnetic disk comprising a step of forming a round hole (105) in the glass substrate (100), the step of forming a round hole comprising; a first of, for one of main surfaces of the glass substrate (100), forming a cut line (102) that is to form a periphery of a region that is to become the round hole (105) in a perpendicular direction that is substantially perpendicular to the main surface of the glass substrate (100); a second step of causing the cut line (102) to reach the other main surface of the glass substrate; and a third step of, by causing a pushing body (103) to come into contact and to apply force in a perpendicular direction from one of the main surfaces to a glass portion (101) that is to be separated from the glass substrate (100) to become a round hole, forming a round hole (105) in the glass substrate (100) by separating the glass portion (101); wherein in the third step, the glass portion (101) is separated from the glass substrate (100) so as not to allow the pushing body (103) to protrude from the other main surface.
