Abstract
The present invention relates to an anti-microbial agent and method of formation thereof. The anti-microbial compounds are obtained by extracting marine red algae L. nangii and further subjecting the crude extract of L. nangii to isolation method to obtain five new pure compounds which are Neolaurene, Neoiriepentaol, Nangallene A, Nangallene B and Nangenyne. The five new compounds undergo antibacterial assay to demonstrate their ability in inhibiting human pathogenic bacteria cells as anti- microbial agent. They showed excellent results against the respective clinical human pathogenic bacteria especially Neolaurene.
