Abstract
Provided are a method for manufacturing an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer resin used for a sheet of a solar cell encapsulant, which has a low thermal shrinkage rate and high transparency, by specifically defining a method of feeding monomers to a tubular reactor, and an EVA copolymer resin obtained by the manufacturing method. The method includes feeding 67 to 76 % by weight of an ethylene monomer and 24 to 33 % by weight of a vinyl acetate monomer to only a feed entry part of a tubular reactor, adding a peroxide-based initiator at a content of 50 to 3,000 ppm, the peroxide-based initiator being a peroxide-based initiator mixture of one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of (A) dialkylperoxy dicarbonate-based compound, (B) alkylperoxy pivalate-based compound, (C) alkylperoxy ethylhexanoate-based compound and (D) dialkyl peroxide-based compound, the one or more compounds (A):(B):(C):(D) being in a mixing ratio of e:f:g:h by weight, where e, f, g, and hare in the range of 0 to 8.0, and polymerizing at a temperature of 200 to 300 ?c under a pressure of 2500 to 3000 kg/cm2 for 2 to 20 minutes. The EVA copolymer resin has a Z-average molecular weight (Mz) of 220,000 g/mole or less, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 4.3 or less, and a melt flow index in the range of 6 to 35 g/10 min at 190 ?c under a load of 2.16 kg. Accordingly, the EVA copolymer resin having a low thermal shrinkage rate and high transparency can be provided.
