Abstract
The development of a metabolite profiling method to screen out the potential metabolite markers is a novel strategy that will improve the understanding on the oil palm defence mechanisms against Ganoderma boninense. Although resistant materials are not readily available, a batch of leaf tissue samples processed by multivariate statistical analysis could be representatives in distinguishing the tolerant from susceptible palms. Several metabolite marker ions from different classes of plant compounds were identified, which have potential as defence-related oil palm metabolites markers for basal stem rot (BSR). Figure 6
