Abstract

The present invention relates to a cutting instrument (100). The cutting instrument (100) comprises a cutting member (10), an actuating member (20), and a motion transmitting member (30). The actuating member (20) comprises an actuating element (21), and a reciprocating chamber (23). The actuating element (21) comprises a follower engaging element (25). The cutting member (10) is mounted to the actuating element (21). The motion transmitting member (30) is adapted for converting a rotating motion into a linear motion, and transferring the linear motion to the actuating member (20). The motion transmitting member (30) comprises a rotating element (31) and a rotating chamber (33). The rotating element (31) is adapted for rotating around a rotational axis in the rotating chamber (33). The rotating element (31) comprises a guide engaging member (35) movably engaged with the follower engaging element (25) such that the rotating motion of the rotating element (31) causes the actuating element (21) to reciprocate along the reciprocating chamber (23). The motion transmitting member (30) is further for converting the rotating motion to a vibrating motion and transferring the vibrating motion to the actuating member (20). The rotating motion of the rotating element (31) causes the actuating element (21) to vibrate. The reciprocating chamber (23) is attached to the rotating chamber (33) such that the linear and vibrating motions are transferable to the actuating element (21). The actuating member (20) is for reciprocating and vibrating the cutting member (10) in order to assist the cutting member (10) in a cutting task.
