Abstract
A process for producing refined palm fruit oil, the process including the steps of sterilising and threshing palm fruits to produce MPD, pressing the MPD to produce UDCO (1), mixing the UDCO (1) with dilution water to produce DCO (2), clarifying the diluted crude palm fruit oil (2) into a crude palm fruit oil, mesocarp and underflow clarifier (3), recovering crude palm fruit oil from the mesocarp and the underflow clarifier (3), producing decanter solid (5) and diluted sludge; and degumming, bleaching and deodorizing the crude palm fruit oil to produce refined palm fruit oil whereby3-monochloropropanediol (3-MCPD) content of the refined palm fruit oil shows a decrease of at least 10%, wherein at least one enzyme composition is admixed to the MPD, the UDCO (1), the DCO (2), the mesocarp, the underflow clarifier (3), an outlet sludge tank (4), the decanter solid (5), a plurality of sludge streams (6) or any combination thereof.
