Abstract
A rotary vane compressor is characterised in that the backpressure applying mechanism (23A, 23B, 23C, 230, 2C, 20, 8B, 8C, 25A, 40, 4E, 4F, 16A-16E) is formed by an upstream passage (23A, 23B, 23C, 230, 2C, 8B, 8C), a downstream passage (25A, 40, 4E, 8C, 8B,20, 4F, 16A-16E) and an intermittent communication mechanism (8C, 25A, 230). The upstream passage (23A, 23B, 23C, 230, 2C, 8B, 8C) communicates with the discharge chamber (10). The downstream passage (25A, 40, 4E, 8C, 8B, 20, 4F, 16A-16E) is configured to communicate with a plurality of backpressure chambers (15B) intermittently. The intermittent communication mechanism (8C, 25A, 230) is provided between the upstream passage (23A, 23B, 23C, 230, 2C, 8B, 8C) and the downstream passage (25A, 40, 4E, 8C, 8B, 20, 4F, 16A-16E) and configured to make intermittent communication between the upstream passage (23A, 23B, 23C, 230, 2C, 8B, 8C) and the downstream passage (25A, 40, 4E, 8C, 8B, 20, 4F, 16A-16E). When the intermittent communication mechanism (8C, 25A, 15 230) makes communication between the upstream passage (23A, 23B, 23C, 230, 2C, 8B, 8C) and the downstream passage (25A, 40, 4E, 8C, 8B, 20, 4F, 16A-16E), the rotor (15) is configured to bring the downstream passage (25A, 40, 4E, 8C, 8B, 20, 4F, 16A-16E) into communication with none of the backpressure chambers (15B). When the rotor (15) makes communication of the downstream passage (25A, 40, 4E, 8C, 8B, 20, 4F, 16A-16E) with at least one of the backpressure chambers (15B), the intermittent communication mechanism (8C, 25A, 230) is configured to shut off communication between the upstream passage (23A, 23B, 23C, 230, 2C, 8B, 8C) and the downstream passage (25A, 40, 4E, 8C, 8B, 20, 4F, 16A-16E).
