Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for producing degradable mulch film, characterised by the steps of: dissolving poly(vinyl alcohol) in cold water to produce a homogenised solution by constant stirring at 80?C for one hour; preparing a mixture comprising 10 wt% of kenaf fibres and 15 wt% of poly(vinyl alcohol); casting the mixture on a mold and drying at room temperature; and hot-pressing the dried mixture at 120-180?C for 5-10; wherein the hot-pressing is performed under 1 bar pressure to produce a degradable mulch film with a thickness of 1mm.
