Abstract
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing super absorbent and the super absorbent obtained thereof. The method includes the steps of (a) adding the POME liquor to an acid in a ratio of 25:1 to form a mixture, (b) heating and stirring the mixture simultaneously, wherein the heating the mixture is conducted at a temperature of between 150?C to 200?C, preferably at 158?C and stirring the mixture is conducted at a speed of between 800 rpm to 900 rpm preferably at 840 rpm until the mixture is reduced to 600mL of its volume, preferably 60% of its volume, (c) mixing the mixture with a mortar containing sand to form POME-coated sand, (d) sealing with the mortar with an activated carbon to form an activated carbon sealed mortar and (e) heating the activated carbon sealed mortar at the temperature of between 30DC to 500?C
