The present invention provides a composite and method for regenerating (or generating) bone tissue having the mechanical strength suitable for use in implantation. The tissue-engineered bone construct is generated by seeding osteoprogenitors cells having the ability for osteoblast differentiation with fibrin as cell carrier onto a porous ceramic, which serves as a scaffold for the cells. This invention also relates to the use of such composite in bone repair and replacement.
