Abstract
A METHOD OF CONSTRUCTING A CIRCULAR WATER TANK FROM AN ELONGATED SHEET (90) IS DISCLOSED IN THE PRESENT INVENTION. THE ELONGATED SHEET (90) IS MOVED IN A HELICAL TRAJECTORY SO THAT THE LOWER EDGE (92) EVENTUALLY COMES INTO PROXIMITY WITH THE UPPER EDGE (91), AND THE SHORTER EDGE (93) IS FLUSH WITH A PORTION OF THE LONGER EDGE (94). THIS RESULTS IN A PORTION OF THE LONGER EDGE (94) BEING AN “OVERHANG”. THE UPPER AND LOWER EDGES (91 AND 92) ARE WELDED TOGETHER SUCH THAT THE WALL OF THE CYLINDRICAL TANK IS FORMED. WELDING POINTS ARE LOCATED BOTH ON AN INNER SIDE (141) AND OUTER SIDE (142) OF THE WALL. THE WELDING POINTS ON THE OUTER SIDE (142) OF WALL OCCUR ALONG WHERE THE END OF THE SHORTER EDGE (93) MEETS A POINT ALONG THE LENGTH OF THE LONGER EDGE (94).
