DISCLOSED IS AN ABSORBENT ARTICLE INCLUDING: A BACKSHEET (2); A LIQUID-PERMEABLE TOPSHEET (6); AND AN ABSORBENT LAYER INCLUDING A HYDROPHILIC MATERIAL AND DISPOSED BETWEEN THE BACKSHEET (2) AND THE TOPSHEET (6). COMPRESSED PORTIONS WHERE THE ABSORBENT LAYER IS COMPRESSED AND RECESSED TOGETHER WITH THE TOPSHEET (6) ARE PROVIDED TO EXTEND CONTINUOUSLY LONGITUDINALLY AT LOCATIONS SPACED TRANSVERSELY APART FROM A LONGITUDINALLY EXTENDING CENTERLINE (OY-OY) OF THE ABSORBENT ARTICLE, THEREBY DEFINING A CENTRAL ABSORBENT REGION BETWEEN THE COMPRESSED PORTIONS AND AN AUXILIARY ABSORBENT REGION OUTSIDE THE COMPRESSED PORTIONS. WITHIN THE CENTRAL ABSORBENT REGION, A LIQUID GUIDE LAVER (5) FORMED OF FIBERS JOINED TOGETHER TO LEAVE VOIDS THEREIN AND HAVING A LOWER DENSITY THAN THE ABSORBENT LAYER IS DISPOSED BETWEEN THE ABSORBENT LAYER AND THE TOPSHEET (6), WITHOUT OVERLAPPING WITH THE COMPRESSED PORTIONS, SO THAT THE ABSORBENT LAYER IS COVERED WITH THE TOPSHEET (6) IN THE AUXILIARY ABSORBENT REGION.
