Abstract

This aluminum substrate for magnetic recording media is obtained by forming SiO2 films, each having a thickness of from 6.0 μm to 15.0 μm (inclusive), on both surfaces of an aluminum plate. Each of the SiO2 films has a compressive stress of from 450 MPa to 1,000 MPa (inclusive).
