METHOD OF LEAK TESTING A TANK, THE SAID TANK COMPRISING A BEARING STRUCTURE (6), A PRIMARY MEMBRANE (8) INTENDED TO BE IN CONTACT WITH A PRODUCT CONTAINED IN THE TANK, AND A SECONDARY MEMBRANE (7) ARRANGED BETWEEN THE PRIMARY MEMBRANE AND THE BEARING STRUCTURE, IN WHICH THE SPACE BETWEEN THE PRIMARY MEMBRANE AND THE SECONDARY MEMBRANE IS KNOWN AS THE PRIMARY SPACE (10) AND THE SPACE BETWEEN THE SECONDARY MEMBRANE AND THE BEARING STRUCTURE IS KNOWN AS THE SECONDARY SPACE (9), CHARACTERIZED IN THAT IT COMPRISES THE STEPS CONSISTING IN: - INJECTING INTO THE PRIMARY SPACE A FIRST GAS THAT IS INCONDENSABLE OR THAT HAS A CONDENSING TEMPERATURE LOWER THAN THE MEAN TEMPERATURE OF THE PRIMARY MEMBRANE, - INJECTING INTO THE SECONDARY SPACE A SECOND GAS THAT HAS A CONDENSING TEMPERATURE HIGHER THAN THE MEAN TEMPERATURE OF THE PRIMARY MEMBRANE, - GENERATING IN THE SECONDARY SPACE A PRESSURE THAT IS RAISED WITH RESPECT TO THAT IN THE PRIMARY SPACE, AND - DETECTING ANY HOT SPOT(S) (22) THAT MIGHT BE ON THE PRIMARY MEMBRANE.
