Abstract

THE INVENTION RELATES TO A METHOD FOR IMAGE COMPLETION WITHOUT EXTENSIVE SEARCHING PROCESS TO FIND THE BEST TEXTURE TO REPAIR THE DAMAGED AREA. THE METHOD IS BASED ON GRAY LEVEL CO-OCCURRENCE MATRIX (GLCM) (20) AND WEIGHTED TWO SIDES HOLE FILLING FOR COMPLETION. GLCM (20) IS USED TO ANALYZE AND DETERMINE THE DIRECTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRAY LEVEL TONES IN AN IMAGE (10). AFTER OBTAINING THE GRAY LEVEL TONES DIRECTION IN THE KNOWN REGION FROM GLCM (20), A WEIGHTED TWO SIDES HOLE FILLING METHOD IS USED TO COMPLETE THE MISSING REGION WITH WEIGHTED DATA ACQUIRED FROM THE GIVEN DIRECTION. THIS METHOD HAS ELIMINATED THE SEARCHING PROCESS WHICH TAKES MORE TIME AND LEAD TO ERROR ACCUMULATION. BY USING THIS METHOD, THE TIME OF FILLING IS REDUCED FROM HUNDREDS OF MINUTES TO FEW MICROSECONDS AND THE QUALITY OF THE RESTORED IMAGE IS IMPROVED. THE TIME TAKEN IN THE OTHER METHODS DEPENDS ON THE SIZE OF THE DAMAGED REGION (11) AND IMAGE SIZE AS COMPARE TO THE TIME TAKEN OF THIS METHOD WHICH DEPENDS ONLY ON THE SIZE OF DAMAGED REGION (11).
