NEXT, ESTERIFYING THE PREHEATED SLUDGE PALM OIL (102) WITH A LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT ALCOHOL IN THE PRESENCE OF ACID CATALYST AT A TEMPERATURE IN THE RANGE OF 40 °C TO 60 °C AND FOR A TIME SUFFICIENT TO REDUCE THE HIGH FREE FATTY ACID CONTENT TO A MAXIMUM OF ABOUT 2 %WT. THEN, SEPARATING THE ESTERIFIED SLUDGE PALM OIL (103) AND SUBJECT TO TRANSESTERIFICATION (104) IN THE PRESENCE OF ALKALINE CATALYST TO FORM A CRUDE BIODIESEL AND CRUDE GLYCEROL. SUBSEQUENTLY, SEPARATING THE CRUDE BIODIESEL (105), WASHING SAID CRUDE BIODIESEL WITH WATER AT A TEMPERATURE OF ABOUT 50 °C TO 70 °C (106) AND FOLLOWED BY DEHYDRATING SAID WASHED BIODIESEL (108) TO FORM A PURE BIODIESEL.
