THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A METHOD OF PRODUCING A GRAPHITE ELECTRODE COMPRISING AN ELECTRODE BODY AND AT LEAST ONE CONNECTING MEMBER DISPOSED ON ONE OF THE TWO END FACES OF THE ELECTRODE BODY, IN WHICH THE ELECTRODE BODY AND AT LEAST ONE CONNECTING MEMBER ARE PRODUCED SEPARATELY BY A METHOD INCLUDING THE STEPS OF MOLDING A CARBONACEOUS COMPOSITION, BAKING, IMPREGNATING ONCE OR SEVERAL TIMES, AS WELL AS GRAPHITIZING, BEFORE THE ELECTRODE BODY AND THE CONNECTING MEMBER ARE CONNECTED WITH EACH OTHER. IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE MECHANICAL STRENGTH, IN PARTICULAR THE BENDING STRENGTH OF THE GRAPHITE ELECTRODE, IT IS PROPOSED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE INVENTION TO IMPREGNATE AND REBAKE THE ELECTRODE BODY AND/OR THE CONNECTING MEMBER AT LEAST ONE MORE TIME AFTER THE GRAPHITIZATION.
