DISCLOSED A VALVE ASSEMBLY (100) FOR THE DISPENSING OF A VISCOUS LIQUID FROM A RESERVOIR (606). THE VALVE ASSEMBLY COMPRISES A BALL VALVE (110) COUPLED TO A BASE OF THE RESERVOIR AND INTO WHICH THE VISCOUS LIQUID MAY FLOW UNDER GRAVITY. A RESILIENTLY FLEXIBLE CONDUIT (150) COUPLES THE BALL VALVE TO A DISC VALVE (130) AND VIA WHICH THE VISCOUS LIQUID MAY FLOW FROM THE BALL VALVE TO THE DISC VALVE, THE DISC VALVE REPRESENTING AN OUTLET OF THE VALVE ASSEMBLY. DESIRABLY THE DISC VALVE HAS A CRUCIFORM SLOT (137). THE VALVE ASSEMBLY MAY BE USED WITH EITHER RIGID (606) OR BAG-LIKE (700) RESERVOIRS. FURTHER A VALVE ASSEMBLY (800) INCORPORATING ONLY THE DISC VALVE MAY BE USED WITH A BAG-LIKE RESERVOIR.
