Abstract

THE BALLOT UNIT (BU) WHICH CONTAINS SIXTEEN CANDIDATE BUTTONS (27) AND INDICATOR LAMPS FOR EACH CANDIDATE BUTTON (27) IS INTERCONNECTED TO CONTROL UNIT (CU) THROUGH A FIVE-METER-LENGTH TWENTY -FIVE CORE FLAT JACKETED CABLE. ON COMPLETION OF VOTING, OPERATING THE CLOSE BUTTON (23) CLOSES THE CONTROL UNIT, MACHINE POWER SWITCHED OFF, AND CONTROL UNIT IS PACKED INTO CARRYING CASE AND TAKEN INTO THE COUNTING CENTERS FOR COUNTING OF VOTES. THE RESULT OF THE ELECTION IS DISPLAYED ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN AT THE PRESS OF A RESULT BUTTON IN THE CONTROL UNIT. THE VOTE RECORDED AGAINST EACH CANDIDATE IS DISPLAYED SEQUENTIALLY IN THE DISPLAY SCREEN WITH A BUZZER BEEP SOUND. THE VOTING DATA IS RETAINED IN THE MEMORY EVEN POWER IS SWITCHED OFF. THE MACHINE CAN BE USED FOR CONDUCTING SIMULTANEOUS ELECTIONS USING THE AUXILIARY CONTROL UNIT (ACU) (83) ALONG WITH MAIN CONTROL UNIT. THE ENTIRE MACHINE OPERATES ON 7.5V BATTERY (34) AND HAS A PROVISION TO USE FOR MAXIMUM OF SIXTY-FOUR CONTESTING CANDIDATES. COMPARTMENTS (7) ARE PROVIDED IN THE MACHINE CONSTRUCTED ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION WITH INTERLOCKING AND THREAD SEALING PROVISION TO MAKE IT TAMPER PROOF, ERROR FREE AND EASY TO OPERATE A COMMON MAN. THE VOTING DATA RECORDED ONCE IS RETAINED IN MEMORY UNIT UNTIL IT IS ERASED BY OPERATING A CLEAR BUTTON (31).
