A VEHICLE ACCIDENT RECORDING SYSTEM OF THE KIND HAVING A IMAGE RECORDER UNIT [2] INCLUDES A SPEED SENSOR [6] FOR MONITORING THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE, AND A MECHANISM FOR TURNING ON AND OFF THE IMAGE RECORDING WHICH DEPENDS UPON THE OUTPUT OF THE SPEED SENSOR [6]. IF THE SPEED SENSOR [6] INDICATES THAT THE VEHICLE IS MOVING ABOVE A CERTAIN VELOCITY, THE IMAGE RECORDER DEVICE [2] CONSTANTLY RECORDS IMAGES, UNTIL A SENSOR [4, 5] INDICATES THAT AN ACCIDENT HAS OCCURRED. IF THE SPEED SENSOR INDICATES THAT THE CAR IS STATIONARY, THE IMAGE RECORDER DEVICE [2] IS TRIGGERED UPON A JOLT OCCURRING TO THE VEHICLE AND REGISTERED BY A MORE SENSITIVE SENSOR [3]. THE SYSTEM FURTHER INCLUDES AN ARRAY [8] OF LAMPS [31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37] FOR GENERATING LIGHT AT A WAVELENGTH INVISIBLE TO HUMANS, AND WITHIN THE FIELD OF VIEW OF THE IMAGE RECORDING DEVICE [2]. THE SYSTEM TURNING TURNS ON AND OFF THE LAMPS [31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37] IN DEPENDENCE ON INFORMATION TO BE RECORDED, SO THAT THE INFORMATION IS ENCODED IN THE RECORDED IMAGES.
