THIS IS FOLLOWED BY ADDING THE SUBSTRATE, CASEIN, WHEREIN THE MIXTURE IS INCUBATED FOR A PREDETERMINED PERIOD OF TIME AT A PREDETERMINED TEMPERATURE. THIS REACTION IS STOPPED BY ADDING REAGENT COOMASSIE BRILLIANT BLUE G-250 WHICH ALSO ACTS AS A CHROMOPHORE AND THE EXTENT OF THE CHROMOPHORE FORMATION IS THEN PHOTOMETRICALLY DETERMINED. THE ABSORBANCE OF THE RESULTING CHROMOPHORE REFLECTS THE CONCENTRATION OF HEAVY METALS IN THE SAMPLE.
