THE INVENTION ALSO INCLUDES AS A SECOND ASPECT A CONTROL AND MONITORING SYSTEM FOR ONE OR A PLURALITY OF SMOKE CURTAIN UNITS (1, 1A, 1B…) COMPRISING A DATA COMMUNICATION CABLE (11) CONNECTED BETWEEN THE OR EACH SMOKE CURTAIN UNIT AND A CENTRAL LOCATION (16) WHEREBY INFORMATION RELATING TO THE CONDITION OF THE UNITS (1, 1A, 1B…) IS TRANSMITTABLE BACK TO THE CENTRAL LOCATION (16). A THIRD ASPECT IS DIRECTED TO A MAINS OR DC BRUSHLESS ELECTRIC MOTOR TO POWER UP AND TO POWER DOWN THE CURTAINS (2, 2A, 2B…).
