Abstract

THIS INVENTION RELATES TO AN INSTALLATION OR LAYING METHOD OF THE FLOOR PANELS WHICH COMPOSED OF THE MOST COMMON KNOWN HARD FLOOR COVERING, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LAMINATE FLOORING, HARDWOOD FLOORING, AND ENGINEERED HARDWOOD FLOORING. IN THE HARD FLOOR COVERING, THERE ARE DIFFERENT KINDS OF JOINING PROFILES BY MEANS OF TONGUE AND GROOVE IN WHICH THE FLOOR PANELS ARE INSTALLED WITH GLUE OR GLUE FREE SYSTEMS. THE GLUE FREE SYSTEM WAS INTRODUCED TO OVERCOME THE SHORTAGES OF GLUE SYSTEM ESPECIALLY ON THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURES AND APPLICATIONS. THE PERFORMANCE OF THE FLOORING DEPENDS VERY MUCH ON THE LOCKING STRENGTH PROVIDES BY THE LOCKING MECHANISM THAT KEEP FLOOR PANELS TOGETHER. MANY FLOORS LOOK FINE WHEN THEY ARE FIRST INSTALLED, BUT OVER TIME THEY HAVE GAPS FORMED GRADUALLY BETWEEN THE JOINTS; ALLOWS DIRT OR WATER TO ENTER THE JOINT BESIDES THE UNPLEASANT LOOKING. NE GAPS NORMALLY DEVELOP RESULTED FROM THE INTERNAL STRESSES; ESPECIALLY OCCUR WHEN THE FLOORS UNDERGO EXTREME CONDITIONS SUCH AS DRASTIC CHANGES IN RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE. THIS INVENTION IS TARGETED TO PROVIDE AN INSTALLATION METHOD. WITH THE CONSIDERATION OF PROVIDING HIGHER LOCKING STRENGTH FOR LONG TERM FLOOR PERFORMANCE. WITH INSTALLATION METHOD AS DEFINED IN THE INVENTION, THEJOINT EDGES OF THE FLOOR PANELS CAN BE DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY TO PROVIDE HIGHERJOINT STRENGTH. THIS CAN BE ACHIEVED BY A THICKER LOWER GROOVE WALL WITH THE CORRESPONDING TONGUE EDGE, AND WITH A BIGGER LOCKING SURFACE AREA.
