Abstract

THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A METHOD AND A SYSTEM TO DETERMINE HOW TO PROCESS A TELEPHONE CALL WHERE THE CALLER''S CALLER INDENTIFICATION NUMBER IS UNKNOWN. THE RECEIVED CALL IS RECEIVED BY THE MESSAGING SYSTEM OF THE PRESENT INVENTION AND IS THERE IS NO CALLER I.D. IDENTIFIED THE CALLER IS REQUIRED BY THE SYSTEM TO INPUT A PASSWORD BY DTMFS (DUAL TONE MULTI-FREQUENCIES). THE SYSTEM WILL CHECK THE ENTERED PASSWORD AGAINST A PASSWORD PROGRAMMED INTO THE SYSTEM BY THE TONE. IF THE PASSWORD MATCHES A PROGRAMMED PASSWORD IN THE SYSTEM, THE CALL WILL BE PROCESSED ACCORDING TO HOW THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN PROGRAMMED TO PROCESS THE CALL FOR THE PASSWORD. POSSIBLE PROCESS PROCEDURES INCLUDE A CUSTOM GREETING, MESSAGE LIMIT, SCREENING ON/OFF, ETC. IF THE PASSWORD DOES NOT MATCH THEN THE CALL WILL BE REJECTED. FIG. 1
