Abstract

THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO OLIGONUCLEOTIDE PROBES SPECIFIC FOR VIBRIO CHOLERAE. THE OLIGONUCLEOTIDES ARE BASED ON A NUCLEOTIDE SEQUENCE CONTAINED IN THE hemM (lo/B) GENE OF VIBRIO CHOLERAE. THE OLIGONUCLEOTIDES SPECIFICALLY IDENTIFY ALL BIOTYPES AND SEROTYPES OF VIBRIO CHOLERAE. USING THE ABOVE OLIGONUCLEOTIDE AS PRIMERS, BY PCR AMPLIFICATION, ALL VIBRIO CHOLERAE STRAINS CAN BE DETECTED IN TEST SPECIMENS. THE PRESENT INVENTION ALSO RELATES TO INTERNAL OLIGONUCLEOTIDE PROBES TAGGED WITH NON-RADIOACTIVE MOLECULE TO SPECIFICALLY DETECT THE hemM PCR PRODUCT. THE OLIGONUCLEOTIDE PRIMERS AND PROBES AND THE METHOD MENTIONED IN THE PRESENT INVENTION OFFERS AN INNOVATIVE AWAY TO SPECIFICALLY IDENTIFY ALL VIBRIO CHOLERAE SEROTYPES AND BIOTYPES IN CLINICAL SPECIMENS.(FIG 1)
