Abstract

THERE IS PROVIDED A CIRCUIT BREAKER INCLUDING A MOVABLE CONTACT (3), A FIXED CONTACT (5), A TRIPPING DEVICE (8) FOR DETACHING THE MOVEABLE CONTACT FROM THE FIXED CONTACT, A PIVOT LEVER (9) FOR OPERATING THE TRIPPING DEVICE, A FIRST MAGNETIC ELEMENT (16) PROVIDED ON THE MOVABLE CONTACT, AND A SECOND MAGNETIC ELEMENT (17) PROVIDED ON THE PIVOT LEVER AND LOCATED OPPOSITE THE FIRST MAGNETIC ELEMENT ACROSS A BIMETALLIC STRIP (13) FOR DETECTING A SHORT-CIRCUIT CURRENT OCCURING IN THE CIRCUIT AND OPERATING THE TRIPPING DEVICE. WHEN A SHORT-CIRCUIT CURRENT IS PRESENT, THE FIRST AND SECOND MAGNETIC ELEMENTS, BY THEIR INTERACTION, ROTATE THE PIVOT LEVER, CAUSING THE TRIPPING DEVICE TO DETACH THE MOVEABLE CONTACT FROM THE FIXED CONTACT.(FIGURE 2)
