MICA-WRAPPED WIRES (M) FOR FIRE-RESISTANT CABLES HAVE AN UNUSUALLY LOW DEGREE OF OVERLAP IN THE MICA TAPE WRAPS, WHICH UNEXPECTABLY PRODUCES A SMOOTHER EXTERNAL PROFILE WHILE RETAINING AN ACCEPTABLE DEGREE OF FIRE PROTECTION. TWO LAYERS OF GLASS-CLOTH-BACKED MICA TAPE (M), PREFERABLY WITH A POLYMER FILM OVERLYING THE CLOTH, SMOOTHER WRAPPING IS ESPECIALLY EFFECTIVE WHEN THIN (LESS THAN 0.8MM) POLYMER COATING ARE TO BE EXTRUDED OVER THE WRAPPED WIRE (M).
