IN A BRIEF TYPE DISPOSABLE DIAPER HAVING A LIQUID PERMEABLE TOPSHEET, A LIQUID IMPERMEABLE BACKSHEET, AN ABSORBENT ELEMENT INTERPOSED BETWEEN THE TOPSHEET AND THE BACKSHEET, AND AN ELASTICALLY EXPANSIBLE MEMBER FOR FORMING A GATHER TO EACH OF THE FRONT AND REAR WAIST AND TO EACH OF THE RIGHT AND LEFT LEG PARTS FORMED AROUND THE ABSORBENT ELEMENT, THE FRONT AND REAR WAIST PARTS BEING CONNECTED AND AFFIXED AT BOTH LATERAL ENDS THEREOF, A DISPOSABLE DIAPER COMPRISING A LIQUID PERMEABLE UPPER SURFACE SHEET PLACED ON THE UPPER SURFACE OF THE TOPSHEET, BOTH LONGITUDINAL END PORTIONS OF THE UPPER SURFACE SHEET BEING FIXED TO THE TOPSHEET RESPECTIVELY.
