Abstract

A DEVICE FOR SURGICAL TREATMENT OF ASTIGMATISM, COMPRISING AN EXCIMER LASER (1) NAD UNIT (1) AND UNIT (3) FOR DISTRIBUTION OF LASER RADIATION ENERGY DENSITY OVER THE CROSS-SECTION AREA OF A LASER BEAM (2). THE UNIT (3), ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION, IS IN FACT AN OPTIC CELLS (7) WHOSE WINDOWS (8, 9) ARE ROTATABLE ABOUT AN AXIS (21) OF THE BEAM (2) AND THEIR INNER SURFACES ARE IN EFFECT SECOND-ORDER CYLINDRICAL SURFACES. THE OPTIC CELL (7) IS FILLED WITH A FLUID MEDIUM (10) CAPABLE OF PARTLY ABSORBING LASER RADIATION. THE DEVICE MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO IRRADIATE THE ENTIRE CORNEAL SURFACE AT A TIME AND TO OBTAIN A SMOOTH SURFACE OF A PRESET PROFILE. (FIG. 1)
