Abstract

IN QUICK-MOTION REPRODUCTION OF PICTURES STORED ON MAGNETIC TAPE ONLY SIGNAL PICTURES TAKEN FROM A CONTINUOUS PICTURE SIGNAL ARE REPRODUCED. UNTIL TRACKING, READING AND REPRODUCING OF A SECOND PICTURE FOLLOWING AFTER THE FIRST PICTURE THE FIRST PICTURE IS REPRODUCED REPEATEDLY. THIS LEADS TO UNPLEASANTLY JOLTING MOVEMENTS. THIS IMPRESSION IS AVOIDED BY CONTINUOUS FADING-OVER OF THE SUCCESSIVE PICTURES TO BE REPRODUCED. THE INVENTION IS APPLIED TO VIDEO RECORDING AND REPRODUCING APPARATUS. (FIG. 1D)
