Abstract

THE INVENTION CONCERNS A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SODIUM OLEFIN SULPHONATE FROM FATTY OIL AND SODIUM ALPHA OLEFIN SULPHONATE AS THE ACTIVE DETERGEN FROM FATTY ACID. A FATTY OIL IS CONVERTED INTO FATTY ACID WHICH, IN TURN, IS CONVERTED INTO SATURATED FATTY ALCOHOL AND THEN INTO ALPHA OLEFIN. THE ALPHA OLEFIN IS SULPHONATED, NEUTRALISED AND HYDROLYSED TO OBTAIN THE REQUIRED SODIUM ALPHA OLEFIN SULPHONATE.
