Description
SOLID COSMETIC COMPOSITION AND ITS UTILIZATIONS
Field of Invention
The present invention relates to a solid composition for topical application, as well as to its use in the cosmetic and / or dermatological fields, particularly for the care and / or treatment of the skin, the scalp, the hair and / or of the mucous membranes, for the makeup of the skin and / or of the keratin fibers such as the eyelashes and the hair, for combing and / or marking the keratin fibers, and in particular of the hair.
Background of the Invention
Products that are presented in solid form are known in the cosmetic industry. As products of this type, mention may be made, for example, in the field of make-up, pencils or "bars" of lipstick, background makeup or eye shadow; in the field of treatment of the skin or lips, lip repair pencils,
Ref: 030791 depigmentant sticks or "sticks", make-up removers or moisturizers; in the field of hygiene, deodorant sticks, bars or foaming tablets for shaving or washing the skin.
As solid products, there may be mentioned patches that particularly act by transdermia for example, either to penetrate an active agent into the skin or to cleanse the skin.
The wax-based bars have some drawbacks: they have a fatty character that is not appreciated by the users and lack freshness in the application. It is also difficult to introduce hydrophilic active agents therein.
On the other hand, non-greasy bars such as deodorant sticks generally contain a relatively large amount of fatty acid salts which may have an irritant character for applications such as face treatment. On the other hand, these bars leave a film that sticks after application on the skin.
Aqueous rigid gels have been described in WO-A-97/17055 and WO-A-97 / 17053. However, these gels require the use of a fairly high concentration of gelling agent or resort to a particular preparation technique, the extrusion. In addition, the bars described in WO-A-97/17055 lack transparency and, due to the high concentration in gelling agents, they lack freshness and softness during application on the skin, and those described in WO-A- 97/17053 should be hydrated at the time of use.
EP-A-803245 discloses aqueous solid compositions containing heat-resistant polysaccharides, a humectant and a vortex spherical phase (fillers). However, the presence of a sprinkling phase can produce the following drawbacks: presence of a visible trace after application of the composition on the skin and decrease in comfort. In addition, when the sprinkling phase of the composition described herein is eliminated, a composition is obtained which does not have sufficient strength or stability, and which does not provide the skin with a satisfactory transfer (sufficient product deposit).
Also, the need remains for a solid composition for topical application that does not have the drawbacks of the prior art.
Description of the invention
Now, it happens that the applicant firm has discovered, unexpectedly, a particular gelling system based on hydrocolloids and associative polymer that allows to make rigid, homogeneous and stable aqueous compositions even with low percentage of gelling agents, and do not necessarily need the laying in practice of a particular preparation technique. The compositions obtained are fresh in the application and allow a good deposit of products on the skin being sufficiently solid. In addition, they allow the direct application of the product on the skin without needing a previous wetting.
An associative polymer is an amphiphilic polymer comprising at least one fatty chain, consequently a hydrophobic part, and at least one hydrophilic unit, consequently a hydrophilic part.
The subject of the present invention is therefore a solid composition containing in an aqueous phase, a gelling system comprising (i) gellan gum, (ii) at least one other hydrocolloid selected from the group consisting of xanthan gum, carboxymethylcellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, methylocellulose, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, hydroxyethylcellulose, agar-agar, carrageenan, alginates, locust bean gum, guar gum, gum arabic, karaya gum, gum adraganto, galty gum , pecticins, gelatin, caseinates, hydroxypropylguar, and (iii) at least one amphiphilic polymer comprising at least one fatty chain and at least one hydrophilic unit.
For the purposes of the present invention, "solid composition" means any composition that has a resistance to compression greater than or equal to 20 grams, at room temperature (20-25 ° C), after penetration by a cylindrical probe. revolution with a diameter of 0.8 cm in the matrix of the composition in a thickness of 1 mm at a speed of 0.5 mm / s and removal of the indicated probe from the matrix of the composition at a speed of 0.5 mm / s; the compressive strength was measured with an analyzer of the type "LFRA T exture Anal yser" marketed by the company STEVENS / MECHTRIC.
The solid composition of the invention is apt to be applied directly on a support, that is to say that it does not need to be wetted to be applied on the support and particularly on the skin. By "support" of the composition according to the invention is meant any surface on which a topical application can be made, particularly the skin, keratin fibers such as eyelashes and hair, the scalp and mucous membranes such as the lips .
The gelling system used according to the invention allows, even in a small amount, to obtain a solid composition having a satisfactory strength and stiffness by providing a good deposit on the skin.
Furthermore, contrary to solid compositions comprising a high proportion of powders, the composition of the invention has the advantage of leaving no visible powder deposit when applied on a support. On the other hand, it has the property of being transparent or translucent in the absence of oil.
In addition, the solid composition according to the invention has a good transfer property, that is to say that during an application on a support, it releases an effective amount of product on this support, being particularly solid.
In the composition according to the invention, gellan gum is present in an amount of at least 1.5% of the total weight of the composition and for example in an amount ranging between 1.5 and 15%, preferably from 2 to 8% and better from 2 to 4% by weight in relation to the total weight of the composition.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the hydrocolloid (ii) is preferably chosen from xanthan gum, locust bean gum, carboxymethylcellulose and hydroxypropylguar and their mixtures.
The hydrocolloid (s) (ii) are present in the composition according to the invention in an amount that can vary widely. Thus, this amount can range, for example, between 0.1 and 10%, preferably between 1 and 5% and better, between 2 and 4% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition.
According to the proportions and particularly when the total amount of hydrocolloids (gellan plus hydrocolloid (ii)) exceeds 4%, it is advantageous to carry out the mixing in a two-screw extruder according to the technique described in EP-A-667148 .
As the amphiphilic polymer (iii), any associative polymer can be used in the composition of the invention. In this amphiphilic polymer, the hydrophobic part can be in small number with respect to the rest of the polymer chain, and can be located laterally in the chain and distributed in a random manner (statistical copolymers) or in the form of sequences or grafts (block copolymers) or sequenced copolymers). On the other hand, water-soluble or water-dispersible polymers or even "swellable" polymers in water can be used.
The amphiphilic polymers may be of any chemical nature; it is thus possible to choose polymers of natural origin, possibly modified; radical polymers, particularly vinyl or acrylic; polycondensers; and its mixtures. They may be ionic or non-ionic, and are preferably anionic or non-ionic.
