Description

MECHANISM TO PRODUCE LANDFILL CLOSURES Background of the Invention. The present invention relates to a mechanism that adapts to packaging machines to produce closures in bags to make a landfill generally made of plastic, although it can be tested with other materials. There are numerous references in the prior art related to the subject, however, the closest are Mexican Patent 159,324 which refers to an improved closure of the type that includes a band placed in the mouth of the bag, which when flexing produces a closure hermetic bag and even more particularly that is characterized by a band placed on one of the walls of the bag through which when flexing the walls are separated from each other with which the bag is open and as opposed to retract force a wall against the other, closing the mouth of the same, as described and claimed particularly in the aforementioned patent. Further, US Patent 4,451,246 relates to means and a method for making an opening or access in a flexible bag in the form of a weir structure containing a tape.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the invention to provide a novel mechanism for closing the invention. It is another object of the invention to provide a simplified apparatus with respect to the prior art according to which it is possible to prepare the closure for landfill. It is still another object of the invention to provide an apparatus with a more efficient mechanism than those known to date.
Brief Description of Drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the complete mechanism mounted on the jaws of the packaging machine. Figure 2 is a top view of the advancing mechanism. Figure 3 is a detail of the advancement, positioning and cutting mechanism. Figure 4 is a bottom plan view of the complete mechanism.
Detailed Description of the Invention The following diagram shows the machine and the mechanism as a whole In the mechanism there is a tape with which the pouring seals are produced, made of plastic material but flexible with metal core to print memory and allow multiple bends without breaking. This tape has an adhesive on one side to adhere to any type of film used in the manufacture of bags. The glue is protected by a paper strip.
The plastic tape is packed in roll form and placed in a roll holder to feed it to the mechanism.
For a better understanding of the operation of the mechanism of the invention we will briefly describe the operation of the vertical bag filling machine where this mechanism is adapted.
The packaging machines have an electronic control center, which synchronizes and controls all the movements and actions of the machine, such as: Movement of the Clamping Mechanism, Time, Pressure and Temperature of the same, distance of travel, speed, dosage of product, parameters of cut of the stock exchange, etc.
The bag formed part of a wide roll of flat film that is placed on top of the packaging machine. This film is guided downwards through a tubular attachment with a shoulder shape in the lower part of which, the film is wrapped so that the film adapts to the shape of the tube. In a determined position of the film already in tubular form, it is sealed at its lateral ends with heat by means of a bar with controlled temperature. The film tube is then pressed by 2 jaws placed opposite each other. The jaws when pressing the tube produce a two-part seal. The upper seal that corresponds to the upper part of the bag to be filled (in inverted position) and the lower seal that corresponds to the bag that was filled in the previous cycle.
At the moment of producing the seal, a device activated by the electronic control of the machine, doses the product to be packaged in the desired volume or weight. The jaws pull the film already sealed and filled down. Upon reaching that point, the filled and sealed bag below is cut and the mechanism with the open jaws is raised again to repeat the sealing and filling cycle of the bag.
The jaws are mounted in a frame-like mechanism that travels vertically up and down. The jaws themselves, are mounted on two cylindrical bars where they slide in a horizontal movement one against the other from outside to inside and from inside to outside in the cycle of sealing operation. The clamps when coming together produce the seal of the bag.
The same electronic center of the packaging machine controls by means of signals all the operations of the mechanism of the invention. The mechanism of the invention consists essentially of a rotary pneumatic motor (10) which rotates the traction sheave (20) which in turn includes a clutch or gear (30). When the traction sheave (20) is rotated, the belt (40) advances and this advance is adjustable and determined by the size of the belt to be placed to form the pouring seal. Once the pulley advanced and finished the placement and cutting cycle, the motor (10) moves back to its original position by means of the clutch (30) by which the pulley remains stopped in its final position, while the traction sheave (20) and a support pulley (50) run the belt (40). On the opposite side of the traction sheave (20) there is another paper collection pulley (60) which separates the paper strip (70) which in turn protects the adhesive. The paper web (70) advances with the same traction sheave (20) and is placed between it and the paper collection pulley (60); said paper web (70) is directed outwardly, the mechanism and the plastic tape (80) then left with its glue exposed, ready to be applied to the film (90) at point (100). The mechanism also contains an attachment and cutting of the tape that consists of two parts: a cutter (110) that is attached to the air motor (10), inside the jaw (120) and a cutting actuator (130) placed in the opposite jaw (140). When the jaws (120 and 140) close according to the proper motion of the machine's operating cycle, the cutting actuator (130) presses the cutter (110), which cuts the plastic tape (80) which in turn adheres to the movie (90). The jaws (120 and 140) are specially designed for this operation since at their end they accommodate the fitting and cutting accessory of the invention. Additionally it has a recess (150) that prevents the jaws (120 and 140) from contacting the plastic tape (80) in the center thereof and only comes into contact with the tape at the end points (100 and 160) wherein the seal of the plastic tape (80) is made with the film (90). The cutter (110) is supported by a spring (170) which, upon opening the jaws (120 and 140) places the cutter (110) in its original position so that it can re-pass tape for the next cycle. The mechanism described above can be mounted on vertical packaging machines, however, the horizontal packaging machines include a mechanism identical in its principle of operation with a single variation, the attachment and cutting accessory is not part of the jaws of the machine but it has its own base placed next to the tape advance mechanism, cuts it and places it in the film that in its next step will form the bag (according to the diagram). This accessory is operated with the same electronic signals from the jaws, which in addition to producing the seal on the bags, seals the tape to the film.
It is noted that in relation to this date, the best method known by the applicant to carry out the aforementioned invention, is the conventional one for the manufacture of the objects to which it relates. Having described the invention as above, the content of the following claims is claimed as an invention
