Abstract
The plastic strip(16) is a coated film whose adhesive coated surface(16a) forms the outer roll surface facing the material. Independent claims are made for:- (1) a method for producing the material roller in which a core(11) is formed by wrapping the adhesive coated film strip(16) with adhesive facing outwards around a cylindrical mandrel, bonding the overlapping film areas to attach them to the mandrel, attaching the start(18) of a material(12) to be wound onto the core surface(16a), and rotating the mandrel to wind on the band material before removing from the mandrel;(2) process equipment including an expanding mandrel with radially adjustable segments which can be reduced in diameter after producing the wound material. Preferred Features:The core is made from film of the same material as the material to be wound on, and has a thickness of 20-40 microns. Conventially available self adhesive film may be used. The nature of the adhesive coating allows removal of the adhering materi al without transfer of adhesive particles to the latter. An adhesive coated plastic film forms a sleeve surrounding the wound material.
Description
ROLLING OF MATERIAL, IN PARTICULAR ROLLING OF
MEANS OF STRING FOR MATERIAL, TO PUT STRIPS TO PIECES
PACKAGED, AS WELL AS PROCEDURE FOR YOUR PRODUCTION AND DEVICE TO CARRY OUT THE PROCEDURE
The invention relates in the first place to a winding of material in accordance with the preamble of claim 1. In particular, the invention relates to a winding of material, which is also referred to as a "web winding" and which houses a web thermoplastic with a flat cross section, usually in a cross wrap around a central sleeve, for use in strapping. In general, windings of rope-type material, band-band or band of textile fiber material, monofilaments or the like, have a central sleeve in a stable manner, as well as eventually a banner or sleeve. In conventional band reels, the central sleeve consists of a cardboard tube, which, in order to guarantee high stability, in particular also against the radical forces exerted by the wound material, is relatively thick wall. The end of the side of the central sleeve of the material to be wound thereon is usually fixed by means of an adhesive strip to the central sleeve, or to its surface. Central cardboard sleeves have the preference that they are relatively inexpensive. On the other hand, they have, however, the disadvantage that they have a relatively high weight and, mainly, also a considerable volume, so that transport and storage require certain costs. In addition, there is a disadvantage not inconsiderable, when it comes to the elimination of said central sleeves, since, usually, they are wound by a residue of material that can not be used by the processing machine. For this reason, a pure recycling in type of material requires removing the waste material from the cardboard sleeve and eliminating both materials separately. The thermoplastic bands for use in strapping usually consist of polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE), both plastics that can be removed relatively without problems. With regard to the problem of disposal, German Patent DE 93 15 668 Ul logically proposes as a central sleeve (in said document called internal sleeve) a strip of plastic material, in particular PP, for the winding of material. The thickness of the material of this plastic film is preferably chosen from 0.5 to 1 mm, in particular from approximately 0.7 mm. The inner sleeve consists of a rigid-flexible strip of that plastic with specially shaped end sections, which make it possible to introduce one end of the tongue-shaped strip into a slot-like opening formed in the other end of the cut-out, so that Cutting ends of the internal cylindrical sleeve, fixed in this way to each other, are mutually fastened. This configuration of the inner sleeve of a rigid-flexible plastic strip requires a machining, especially as regards the shape of the ends of the strip. In addition, in the configuration of the sleeve from the plastic strips, skillful handling is required. The transport and storage of the inner sleeve as a plastic strip not yet made as a sleeve is easier compared to the prior art cited at the beginning, however, also in this case, special storage and pre-making are expensive. Starting from the aforementioned prior art, the invention is fundamentally based on the objective of proposing a considerably simplified material winding with respect to the foregoing. The invention achieves this objective by the features of claim 1 and, accordingly, is characterized in that the plastic strip consists of a film with adhesive laminate, whose surface that presents the adhesive forms the outer surface of the central sleeve directed to the material . For the invention it is essential in the first place that it departs from the fundamental idea used so far, that the central sleeve, like a cardboard sleeve, must be made as a rigid tubular body or, as in the case of the internal sleeve according to German Patent DE 93 15 668 Ul, as a rigid-flexible configuration. The invention is rather based on the idea that the rolled material itself can provide a high stability to the entire material winding, in particular when the material surface of the first directed winding layer is fixedly attached to the central sleeve. to that one Surprisingly, with this idea it suffices for the invention to configure the central sleeve of a sheet coated with thermoplastic adhesive, such as polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE), the sheet forming the central sleeve only having a thickness of approximately 20- 30 μm. For this reason, it is also possible in a simple way to use the same plastic for the film as for the material to be rolled up, thereby completely eliminating material type purity. On the other hand, a commercially available self-adhesive film can be used as the sheet for forming the inner sleeve. It can be, for example, a self-adhesive film of the type which is used, for example, for a packaging band. Thus, the invention is characterized mainly by an unusual simplicity for the particular configuration of the central sleeve. On the other hand, for the case in which the material is a common material in the form of thermoplastic band for strapping machines, the invention takes advantage of the particularities of the band itself, whose surface is normally outlined for reasons of stability. Thus, the surfaces of the various layers of the winding of the web coil are in such contact with each other, that they increase the adhesion friction, so that the finished winding does not fall apart, even if it is transported horizontally. Furthermore, the invention also provides for another stabilization, by means of a plastic sheet tightly enclosing the outer side of the rolled material as a sleeve, which on the side facing the material is coated with adhesive, with a tear-free adhesive flange, or, with neutralized adhesive. Also, the invention relates to a simple process for producing a winding of material of the aforementioned type. Said method is characterized by the following steps: a) To form the central sleeve of the material winding, around a substantially cylindrical-circular carrier mandrel a film strip is rolled with adhesive laminate, with its external surface opposite the coated surface with adhesive, b) by gluing overlapping film sections (flap area), the film strip is fixed to the carrier mandrel, c) the principle of a material to be rolled is adhered to the outer surface coated with adhesive from the central sleeve , d) the carrier mandrel is rotated about its longitudinal axis, until the material winding presents the desired amount of material, and e) the material winding is removed from the carrier mandrel; it being possible to carry out another step, namely: f) a surrounding self-adhesive plastic sheet is applied as a sleeve on the outer side to the material winding, this step being carried out before or after step e). Finally, the invention further proposes a device for carrying out this method, which is characterized in that a spreading mandrel with segments displaceable essentially radially to its axis of rotation is included as the carrying mandrel, which, upon completion of the winding material, it is compressed by reducing the diameter to release that one from the expansion mandrel. The treatment of the central sleeve requires for the winding of the material only the expansion mandrel configured quite simply. In the processing of the material winding, that is to say, for its storage during the consumption of material, no other special device is foreseen, on the other hand. The winding mandrels or common storage rollers can be used, in which the winding of conventional material has also been processed up to now, for example with a cardboard tube as the central sleeve. In the following, the invention is illustrated in detail with the help of an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawings. In them they show: Figure 1, a winding of finished material, in perspective view. Figure 2, a winding of material at the beginning of the winding of a central sleeve with material. And Figure 3, a schematic front view of a housing of the central sleeve in an expansion mandrel. In Figure 1, reference 10 indicates a winding of completely finished material. It consists of a central sleeve 11, the material 12 wound thereon and a plastic film 13 which surrounds the outer side of the rolled material 12 with a tear-off flange 14 on the end side in the manner of a sleeve. The central sleeve 11 consists of a film-like plastic strip, cylindrically wound, with an external surface coated with adhesive. The outer plastic sheet 13 also has adhesive laminate on its inner side 13a. The tear-off flange 14 has on its lower surface 14a directed towards the winding, either no adhesive coating or this one is neutralized, for example, by doubling as a double layer a final section of the plastic sheet 13 to form the tear-off flange 14. , in such a way that the plastic surfaces adhere to each other. Referring to Figure 1 very schematized, it is further indicated that in the area indicated as 15, where the tear-off flange 14 starts, a flap should conveniently exist, to ensure that the self-adhesive plastic strip 13 in any case surrounds at least all the external surface of the rolled material 12. The considerable stability of the material winding 10 according to Figure 1 results, on the one hand, from the fact that the first layer of the winding of the material 12, close to the central sleeve, is fixedly fixed therewith. Another improvement of the stability is obtained by means of the tight banderole of the finished rolling material 12 with the plastic strip 13. Even when it is placed on its cylindrical-circular surface and, if necessary, it is also transported under stirring, a winding such as this is of such a stable way, that practically does not undergo any variation in a disadvantageous manner. Figure 2 shows schematically the plastic film 16 laminated with a thin layer of adhesive on the outer side 16a, which has been wound to the central sleeve 11. The overlapping end sections are not shown in Figure 2, however, in the Figure 3, which will be illustrated below, schematically shows the flap area and is indicated with 17. As seen in Figure 2, the first winding layer 18 of a material 12, in this case a plastic band of flat cross section, is applied directly to the adhesive surface 16a. In the present case, the winding started in the center of the central sleeve and is completed first to the left with respect to Figure 2, while the next winding is carried to the right end of the central sleeve (called the cross winding) . Therefore, with respect to the adhesive surface 16a, the first half of the first winding layer and the second half of the second winding layer form the layer of material that comes into contact with the adhesive layer. The winding is then terminated, namely with a tensile force, or relatively small winding tension, such that the wound material itself does not undergo any deformation which is not allowed. For the winding of the labile plastic sheet 16 for the inner sleeve 11, as shown in Figure 3, an expansion mandrel 19 is used with, in the exemplary embodiment, four segments 20 essentially radially displaceable. If these are in their external position indicated by dashed lines and arrows, then the self-adhesive sheet 16, with its adhesive side 16a facing outwards, is wound on the outer surface of the open segments, which describe approximately a circular cylinder, the ends of the sheet coming into contact with each other in the flap area 17 are joined together. At this time, the winding process described with the aid of FIG. 2 can be started, after which the segments 20 are compressed towards the end. center of the expansion mandrel 19, so that the winding of finished material, which is encircled on the expansion mandrel or subsequently with the sleeve described in Figure 1, can be easily removed from the winding device.
