Description

MOBILE AIR DEPURATOR. PORTABLE, SELF-CONTAINED REFERENCE CREDITED TO RELATED APPLICATION The present is a continuation in part of the co-pending patent application with serial number 08 / 683,711, issued July 18, 1996, which is a continuation in part of serial number 08 / 514,995, issued on August 14, 1995, entitled SELF-CONTAINED PORTABLE / MOUNTABLE AIR CLEANER.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a portable / mountable air scrubber, and very specifically, to an air scrubber that includes a carrier handle extending from an air cleaner elongate body, and sized and configured to be mounted between rafters. cm and a roof structure (measured from center to center of the rafters), a double air scrubber system where a thin air scrubber is mounted inside the elongated body, and a chain stop mechanism mounted in a depression of the handle to operate the air cleaner. Because domestic and industrial workshops generate a substantial amount of sawdust and other foreign materials that are already dispersed in the air, fine dust air purifiers have been developed. This is generally of two types: a mounted unit / console on the floor or a device mounted on the roof / wall. Typical examples of mounted units / floor console are shown in U.S. Pat. Nos. 3,802,168 and 4,894,071 using rollers or wheels to move the fine dust air cleaner to a desired location. An example of an air cleaner device mounted on the ceiling or on the wall is shown in U.S. Pat. No. 3,930,818 where a more permanent type of mounting system is used. Air cleaners with forced air filters and associated blowers are preferred to electrostatic air cleaners because of their lower cost, easier installation and maintenance, and higher capacity. On the other hand, air purifiers that use forced air filters and associated blowers have not been able to process large amounts of highly contaminated air and it has also been difficult to clean and / or replace the filters. As indicated above, the air scrubbers of the prior art have been of the portable or mountable type, but typically have not been of both types. Some users have preferred to move an air cleaner unit to a desired location, while others prefer to mount the air cleaner in a more permanent location. As described in the aforementioned copending patent application, it is possible to provide a self-contained portable / mountable air scrubber that can provide the desired portable and mountable functions. In addition, the construction of the air cleaner, primarily a durable molded plastic, allows the use of a light weight air cleaner that can be moved or lifted easily to be mounted overhead in accordance with the standard weight limits for such activities. In accordance with the present invention, the portable / mountable air scrubber describes an optional mounting bracket system that facilitates installation when mounted on a roof and sized to fit between the typical 40 cm beams in common roof structures. Since this measurement of 40 cm is made from center to center and the standard width of the beam is 7.62 cm, the unit must be less than 33 cm maximum width to fit between these beams. The ability to mount the unit between these beams is beneficial, since it allows greater clarity of head, better utilization of space, which reduces the probabilities obtained in the head caused by running towards the unit. Further, the present invention discloses an integrally improved molded elongated body designed to contain a double filter system that includes a coarse air scrubber and a fine air scrubber that can be easily entered and removed for cleaning. In addition, the present invention discloses a handle with depression containing additional means for activating the appropriate air cleaner to suspend from the ceiling.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Among the various objects and advantages of the present invention include: the provision of a new and improved portable / mountable air scrubber; providing the aforementioned air cleaner that includes a carrier handle for carrying the air cleaner to a desired location or for mounting the air cleaner on a roof, wall or other structure, as desired; provide the aforementioned air cleaner that can be mounted between the typical 40 cm beams of a roof structure; providing the aforementioned air cleaner that includes an integrally molded elongated body designed to contain a double air scrubber system that includes a coarse air scrubber and a fine air scrubber; providing the aforementioned air cleaner in which the design of the air filters, their position within the elongate body, and the structure of their support within the elongate body are adapted so that both filters can be easily removed and cleaned; providing the aforementioned invention with a pull string to activate the unit and an activation light, both designed to assist in the operation of the unit when suspended from the ceiling.
It is briefly stated that the portable / mountable air scrubber of the present invention includes an elongated body containing an air scrubber with a movable mechanically driven air assembly. A support base extends from the elongate body to rest on a support surface. A carrier handle extends from the elongate body generally placed to the support base to facilitate transportation of the air cleaner. The spaced suspension fasteners are associated with the elongated body to mount the elongate body to a roof or wall structure. The spaced suspension fasteners are preferably removably associated with the elongated body. The spaced suspension fasteners also preferably extend transversely to the elongated body and extend through the spaced grooves formed in the elongated body. Preferably, the spaced slots are formed in the carrier handle on each side and an opening in the carrier handle that is long enough to facilitate a user to take it. Pins such as hook pins or the like can be attached to each of the outer ends of the spaced suspension fasteners to engage the complementary pins mounted on the roof or wall structure. Preferably, the elongate body is configured, arranged and sized to fit between the typical 40 cm beams in a roof structure (measured from center to center of the beams). The body of the air cleaner is also preferably constructed of a durable, lightweight plastic that can be easily transported and lifted for top mounting. A switch to energize the air cleaner is mounted in a depressed area of the carrier handle. The switch preferably includes a combination of pull cord and crank lever to activate or deactivate the switch. The pull cord allows activation while the unit is suspended and the cranked lever allows activation while the unit is on a support surface. A slight activation is also mounted in a depressed area of the carrier handle so that someone on the ground can easily find out where the supported unit is activated. The elongated body also preferably further includes a double filtration system that includes coarse and fine air filters and a molded elongate body, integrally designed to hold both filters. The filters of the elongated body are arranged in such a way that the filters can be easily accessed for cleaning. These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description.

The corresponding reference numbers will be used in various figures of the drawings.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED MODALITIES The following detailed description illustrates the invention by examples and not by way of limitation. This description will clearly enable one skilled in the art to make and use the invention, and describes various embodiments, adaptations, variations, alternatives and uses of the invention, including what is currently believed to be the best mode of carrying out the invention. The portable / mountable air cleaner 1 illustrated in the drawings includes a tubular and generally cylindrical hole of the elongate body 3 preferably formed of a strong and durable plastic material by suitable molding techniques. The elongate body includes an integral vertical carrying handle 5 for lifting and transporting the air cleaner 1 to any desired location. Generally, the opposite integral vertical carrier bearer 5 is a support base 7 for causing the air cleaner 1 to rest on a support surface. In this aspect, it will be noted that the support base 7 extends laterally outwardly beyond the elongated body 3 on opposite sides thereof to provide a stable and secure support structure for the air cleaner 1 to rest on a supporting surface. . The air cleaner 1 is also capable of being mounted between the beams J of the structure C of the roof, as illustrated in figures 2B-2C of the drawings. Alternatively, the air cleaner 1 can be mounted on the beam J or on a wall or other structure (not shown) as will become apparent. To mount the air cleaner 1 between the adjacent beams J or a roof structure C, it will be noted that the elongated body 3 of the air cleaner 1 is sized, configured and coupled with a maximum width of less than 33 cm so that is coupled between the common spaced joists J of 40 cm (center-to-center measurements) while the support base 7 rests on an interconnecting strut of the roof structure C, as best seen in Figure 2C of the drawings. Very specifically, in the preferred embodiment of this invention, the elongate body will generally be dimensioned cylindrically with a maximum diameter of about 29 cm. The air cleaner 1 is constructed to include spaced, detachable suspension fasteners 9 which extend through the spaced slots 11 in the two opposite of an opening 13 in the carrier handle 5. In the opening 13 in the carrier handle 5 is large enough to facilitate spacing by a user, while spaced slots 11 receive detachably spaced suspension fasteners 9. At the opposite outer ends of each of the spaced suspension belts 9, the openings 15 can be provided in complementary manner to additionally engage the hook pins 17 mounted on the lower end of the spaced joists J as shown in Fig. 2C of the drawings. Alternatively, the external free ends of the spaced suspension belts 9 can be provided by themselves with hook pins, as shown in Figure 3 of the drawings, to engage in a complementary manner the pins (not shown) that extend at the lower end of the spaced beams J. The air cleaner 1 of the present invention further includes an integrally molded motor frame and venturi 35, as best seen in Figure 3 of the drawings. Specifically, the integrally molded motor frame and the venturi 35 are supported by suitable pins or the like within the elongate body 3 in the position illustrated in FIG. 3. The integrally molded motor frame and venturi 35 include a support support section 37. motor of a venturi section 39. The motor support section 37 supports the motor 41 in a generally centralized position within the elongate body 3. The motor 41 controls an air movement assembly 43 in which, in Figure 3, It is a mechanically driven fan blade. The air movement assembly 43 can also be a blow wheel. The venturi section 39 is located in proximity to the mechanically driven air movement assembly 43 to facilitate the flow of air through the elongate body 3. In this regard, it will be noted that the venturi section 39 includes a restricted throat 45 surrounding the assembly. 43 of air movement to facilitate the flow of air through the elongate body 3.
In view of the above description, it will be appreciated that the air cleaner 1 can be used individually or in banks of air scrubbers such as portable units that are placed in proximity to an operation that creates the polluted air, or alternatively, the air scrubber 1 can be mounted between the spaced apart units J as shown in Figures 2A-2C of the drawings, in single or multiple units for maximum efficiency. To energize the air cleaner 1, a switch 23 is mounted in a depressed area 21 of the carrying handle 5. As shown in Figure 2B of the drawings, the switch 23 is activated by a toggle switch and a pull cord which hangs down the air cleaner 1 when mounted between the beams J as shown in Figure 2B of the drawings. When resting on a support surface, the unit can be activated by the lever switch. The pull cord of the switch 23 is used to activate or deactivate the switch 23 when the unit is suspended. In addition, as shown in Figure 1, the unit contains an activator light 19 that illuminates when the unit is activated. This also helps people on the ground to determine when the unit is activated, particularly in areas where the workshop noise may be the sound of the inaudible unit. In its preferred embodiment, the walls of the depressed area in the handle extend above the height of the light activator and switch and protect them from any damage during transportation of the unit or through normal shop activities. To function as an air cleaner, the elongated body 3, as shown in Fig. 3, contains a generally flat coarse air filter 31, a thin air filter 29 in the form of a bag, and a fan blade 43 mechanically driven , all are positioned so that the thick air filter 31 is closer to the air inlet end of the elongated body 3 than the thin air filter 29, and where the thin air filter 29 is positioned closer to the inlet end of air that the fan blade 43 mechanically operated. The air cleaner 1 includes an elongated body 3 with a defined inlet and outlet end. A releasable / removable closure 25 and the inlet end and a releasable / removable closure 27 can be included at the outlet end of the elongated body 3. The air cleaner 1 is designed with specific characteristics to allow stable support and easy access to clean the coarse air filter 31 and the thin 29 air filter. As shown in Figure 4, the elongated body 3 is fitted at the air inlet end with depressions 46 to receive the coarse air filter 31 and a grid 33 to support the coarse air filter 31 on the outside of the elongated body. The mounting of the thick air filter 31 on the outside of the elongated body 3 is important, since it prevents the thick air filter from needing to be cleaned more regularly than the fine air filter. It will be noted that the depressions 46 and grate 33 that receive and support the thick air filter 31 are engaged so that the thick air filter 31 made of a flexible, foldable material can be inserted and removed in its position by compression of the filter. In its preferred embodiment, the air cleaner 1 includes a coarse air filter 31 made of a flexible, foldable material that is flat and sized in a shape to be engaged within the receivers 46 in the support grid 33 defined at the end of the container. Air intake of the elongated body. It is further preferred that the coarse air filter 31 be made of open cell polyurethane foam. As an alternative, the coarse air filter 31 can also be made of polyester or electrostatic nonwoven polypropylene. With respect to the fine air filter 29, the elongate body 3 is molded with receivers 47 defined along its interior cavity to receive and hold the fine air filter 29. The fine air filter 29 is mounted on a flexible ring or support structure 48 which can be collapsed and expanded to be held in place inside the elongated body 3 in conjunction with the receivers 47 molded into the inner cavity of the elongate body. 3. In your preferred mode, the fine air filter 29 is elongated, expands along the length portion of the elongate body 3, has an opening at the air inlet end and is conically formed, or partially conically formed with a surface flat at the outlet end having a surface area below the opening at the air inlet end. As another preferred embodiment, the thin air filter 29 is made of flexible material similar to clothing. In its other preferred embodiment, the fine air filter 29 is made of electrostatic activated carbon polypropylene. As an alternative, the fine air filter can also be made of electrostatic polypropylene, nonwoven polyester, or open cell polyurethane foam. Activated carbon polypropylene is the preferred one, since it has an odor reducing effect. It can be seen that the molded receivers 47 for the fine air filter 29 are coupled so that the filter can be removed and inserted from the air inlet end of the elongate body 3. Finally, in its preferred embodiment, the air cleaner 1 it is constructed of durable plastic that is molded to define an elongated body 3, an interior cavity containing an air movement assembly 43, an engine 41, a thin air filter 29, and a coarse air filter 31. The elongate body 3 is also molded to include support structures for the motor 37, the fine air filter 47, and air filters 33 and 46 coarse. This material and construction are used to result in a light weight air cleaner that is portable and mountable. In its other preferred embodiment, the air cleaner 1 is of such a weight that an average person can easily lift it to mount it from above. In another preferred embodiment, the weight of the whole unit is less than 13 kilos to be in accordance with the ergonomic standard applicable to lifting and transporting objects that "bulky items should not weigh more than approximately 13 kilos"; or otherwise agree to the maximum load limits published by the National Institute of Safety and Health in the Work Practice Guide for Manual Lifting as stated in Woodson, and others The Human Factors Design Handbook, 2d Ed., p. 623 (McGra-Hill 1992). In its other preferred embodiment, the weight of the whole unit is approximately 5 kilos. From the foregoing, it will now be appreciated that the portable / mountable air cleaner 1 of the present invention allows the air cleaner 1 to be easily transported by the conveyor handle 5 to a desired location for resting on a support surface or can be mounted through the suspension brackets 9 spaced to the roof structure C, as when the air cleaner 1 is located between the J spaced beams of 30 cm from the roof structure. The air cleaner 1 can be mounted on a roof structure in any desired shape or on a wall or other structure, if desired. The firing chain 23 and the firing light 19 aid in the use of the air cleaner 1 when it is suspended 1. In addition, the receivers 46 and 47 are adjusted to hold a double filter filtration system that includes an air filter 31 thick and a thin 29 air filter. Filters 31 and 29, receivers 46 and 47, and releasable / removable fasteners 25 and 27 are adjusted so that the coarse air filter 31 and the thin air filter 29 can be easily removed for cleaning. In view of the foregoing, it is noted that the various objects and advantages of the present invention have been achieved and other convenient results have been obtained. Since several changes can be made in the above constructions without departing from the scope of the invention, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawings be construed as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
