Description

HAT WITH BAG FOR SAVING DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION: The present invention refers generally to hats and in particular it refers to a hat that has a storage space or bag to store. Hats with bags are known. For example, US Patent No. 4,165, 542 to cLaughlin describes a hat with a bag on the inner side where the hat can be inserted to be easily carried when not in use. The bag has a lower end on the hat ring and an upper end adjacent to the crown. When the hat is being used, small items can be inserted to carry, however, since the lower end of the hat is in the hat ring, the objects will fall to the hoop, when they rest against the user's head and can cause some discomfort. In US Pat. No. 5,214,802 to McCallum, a convertible hat and bag assembly is described, which has two layers, one acting as a hat when it is outward and the other acting as a bag when it is outward, an opening in a layer provides access to the space between the two layers to allow storage. However, the items stored in that space will fall to the area of the hoop when the assembly is used as a hat causing discomfort and also a bulge that can damage the appearance of the hat.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel hat and improved with a storage bag. According to the present invention, there is provided a hat comprising a head covering member having a headband for surrounding the user's head, an outer face, an inner face, a crown or cup, a front portion, a rear portion and opposite side portions, a bag fixed to the inner face of the head covering member, the bag has an access opening spaced apart on the head band and located on the front portion of the part covering the head, the bag extends from the access opening upwards towards the cup of the part covering the head so that at least the largest fraction of the bag is located in a dead space of the hat, which will not make contact with the user's head , and also has a detachable fixing mechanism for closing and opening the opening of the bag. When the hat is worn, the hat does not touch the user's head in its entire area. Typically, the band of the hat or ring makes contact around the periphery of the head, but due to the difference in curvature between the forehead of the person and the front portion of the hat, there will be a dead space between the hat and forehead, extending from a place just above the band to the top of the head. According to this invention, a bag is placed entirely within that dead space so that the items placed in the bag do not rest against the user's head and do not cause discomfort. Also the articles put in the bag will not cause bulges in the hat that gives, in its appearance. preferably, a pull tab is placed in the bag adjacent to the opening to be pulled by the user to easily open the opening. The openable closing mechanism may comprise Sailboat coupling strips (registered trademark) on opposite sides of the pouch opening, or may comprise a ziper, snap fasteners or the like. The covering member may comprise a single layer or an outer layer and an inner layer, the inner layer may be a mesh or other lightweight, cooling material, and may extend only over the front portion of the hat or over the entire outer layer of the hat. When the member covering the head is a single layer, the bag can be released or permanently attached to the inside of the hat layer. When an inner layer is provided, the bag can be releasably secured between the two layers with an opening in the inner layer around which the opening of the bag is fixed., the inner layer can be detachably attached to the hat so that it can be removed for use as a portable bag or the like, separate from the hat. In the latter case the inner layer is preferably fixed around its periphery to the outer layer by means of coupling strips of the hook and loop type such as Velero (registered trademark). Waist strips can be provided to be removably attached to the removed inner layer so that it can be used as a waist bag or the like, the waist strips are preferably provided with a coupling fixative material for coupling with the same strip of fastener material that another way is used to fix the inner layer to the outer layer of the hat. Thus, if something that is too large for the bag is to be worn, the entire inner layer of the hat can be removed to be used as a waist pack. Preferably when the bag is attached to a separate inner layer or lining of the hat, the liner is attached to the top of the hat by means of a button or the like which passes through both layers of the cap, this will act to stop or maintain bag up and prevent it from hanging and stop the contents of the bag away from the head to avoid discomfort. The opening of the bag has a width substantially equal to the width of the front portion of the hat and preferably does not extend over the sides thereof. Preferably, the depth of the bag is such that it extends to the cup or just passes the cup of the hat. If the bag can be made of a waterproof material or can have a waterproof insert for articles that can be damaged by moisture, the bag can be formed from the covering member of the head or the single or internal layer can form an inner wall of the bag, with the inner wall of the bag, sewn around its periphery spaced from the opening, to the lower hat layer or to the lining layer. The hat or cap with a storage bag allows small items to be stored conveniently, such as money, keys, credit cards and the like, whether it be walking, running, surfing, or the like. The placement of the bag is such that stored items do not rest against the user's head and cause discomfort, since they are located in a dead space of the hat, where the head of the user does not touch. Also due to the placement of the bag, the stored items will not cause any bulging on the outer side of the hat, which could otherwise damage its appearance. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The present invention will be better understood by the following detailed description of some preferred embodiments of the invention, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein the reference figures refer to like parts in which: FIGURE 1, is a perspective view of a hat with a storage bag constructed according to a first embodiment of the invention; FIGURE 2 is a side elevational view partly in section, illustrating the placement of the hat of Fig. 1, on a user's head; FIGURE 3 is a section on line 3-3 of FIG. 1; ?? FIGURE 4 is a perspective view of a cap hat with a bag according to a second embodiment of the invention; FIGURE 5 is a section through a front portion of the cap on line 5-5 of FIG. 4; FIGURE 6 is a perspective view of a cap hat with a bag attached according to a third embodiment of the invention; FIGURE 7 is a cut through the front of the cap on lines 7-7 of FIG. 6; FIGURE 8 is a section similar to FIG. 3, illustrating a cap and bag according to a fourth embodiment of the invention; FIGURE 9 illustrates the liner of Fig. 8, removed from the cap and turned to provide a bag; and FIGURE 10, is a perspective view of the bag of FIG. 9, with a closure member and waist strips attached. Figs. 1-3, of the drawings illustrates a cap 10, according to a first embodiment of the invention, having an integral bag 22. The cap or hat 10, has an outer layer 14, and an inner or lining 16, which is sewn to the outer layer along the periphery of the cap and also seams 18, which divide the inside of the cap into generally triangular segments, as best illustrated in Fig. 1. A wing 20, is fixed throughout of a front edge of the cap in a conventional manner so that it projects outwardly from the user's head, as illustrated in FIG. 2. The bag or storage space 22, is formed between the outer layer 14, of the lining 16 , in a front triangular segment of the cap, with an access opening 24, provided in the lining layer 16, to access the bag 22. Adjacent seams 18, define the periphery of the bag. The inner and outer layers are also sewn together along an edge of the opening 24, as illustrated in Fig. 3, so that the bag does not extend to the band 28. A suitable fastener device is provided for closing Openably opening the bag opening 24, such as a lace fastener ziper or the like. In the preferred embodiment, opposite strips 25, 26, of a fastener-type, hook-loop fastener material, such as Sailboat (registered trademark), are provided along opposite edges of opening 24, as best illustrated in Fig. 3. As illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, the opening 24, is spaced above the hat band 28, when the hat is worn there will be a dead space 30, between the hat or cap and the front 31 of the wearer, due to the difference in curvature between the cap and the user's head. The bag 22 is appropriately positioned so that it will remain substantially fully located within the dead space 30, when the cap is worn, as illustrated in Fig. 2. When placing the bag in this position, the articles placed on the Bag will not rest against the user's head avoiding potential discomfort. Also, items in the bag will not cause bumps on the outside of the hat, which could potentially remove the appearance of the hat. The bag 22, in Figs. 1-3, has a downward facing opening, however, the bag may alternatively be provided by an opening facing upwards adjacent to the top of the hat by providing an appropriate seam at the location of the opening 24, in FIG. 1, to define the lower portion of the bag and ensure that the articles do not fall to the headband or band 28. A pull tab 32, is attached to the liner layer adjacent to the bag opening 24, as it is better illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, to allow the user to open the bag more easily. The seams 18, ensure the inner layer to the external of the cap upwards in the cup 34, ensuring that the bag stops up and does not fall down against the user's head due to the weight of the items in the bag. Alternatively, a separate bag 22 can be fixed in an opening in the liner layer that is not attached to the outer layer along the seams 18, but only along the periphery of the hat, for example in this case, the lining layer will be additionally fixed to the outer layer in the crown or cup 34, for example by stitching or similarly. Figs. 4 and 5, illustrate a hat 40, single layer with a bag 42, according to a second embodiment of the invention. Single-layer caps are often worn by participants in sports activities, such as racing or cycling. This type of cap will be cooler or refreshing, and therefore preferable to the double layer hat of the first modality when performing sports or other arduous activity. The hat 40 has a central solid panel 44, of a suitable material such as cotton, and two side panels 46, of mesh material to allow air to flow and cool the wearer's head. Alternatively, the panels 46 may also be made of a solid material without openings, a conventional soft band 47, this sewn around the peripheral edge of the cap, the bag 42, is made of a separate piece of material that is bent in two. and stitched along two side seams 48, 50, in the solid panel 54, at an upwardly spaced location of the soft band 47. The bag 42 has a closed end or crease 52, adjacent to the hat cup and an opening 53, looking down towards the soft band. A suitable removable fastener is provided to close the opening 53, such as a ziper, lace fasteners or the like, or strips 54, 55, of the fastener material of the hook-and-loop type, such as Velero material (registered trademark), as better illustrated in Fig. 5, as in the previous embodiment a pull tab 56, is provided to allow the bag. * As in the previous modality, the bag 42 is located within the dead space of the cap, so that it is placed away from the user's head when the hat is worn and the articles in the bag will not cause any discomfort to the user, nor will they damage the outer appearance of the hat. Instead of forming the bag 42, entirely from a separate piece of material as illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5, the panel 44, can form one side of the bag and a single piece of material can be sewn along three sides in the panel 44, to form the other side of the bag in a position equivalent to the bag 42 , in Figs. 4 and 5. Additionally, the bag can be inverted, desired with the opening 53, located along the edge 52, and the closed end of the bag disposed adjacent the band 47. FIGS. 6 and 7, illustrate another alternative embodiment of the invention wherein a hat or cap of the same general style as the preceding embodiments, has an outer layer 61, and a partial lining layer 62, of a nylon loop material. The layer 62 may extend over the entire inner surface of the cap if desired or it may be provided as a strip stitched along the seams of the hat. The nylon loop hook material is soft enough to form a lining layer for a hat, but it will be removably adhered to Velero hook material, which is softer and more flexible than the conventional Velero loop material. A separate bag 64 is provided with a layer 65 of Velero hook material attached to one side of the bag. The bag 64 has an opening 66, openably closed by opposite strips 66, 68, of the Velero hook and loop material as in the previous embodiments, or it may alternatively be closed by a ziper, snap fasteners or the like. The bag layer 65 is simply pressed against the layer 62, so that the hook and loop formations adjoin one another in a removable manner, to fix the bag on the inside of the hat, the layer 62, is additionally fixed to the hat in the cup by the stitch 69, or alternatively by a riveting or similar, so that the weight of the bag and the contents does not cause the hat to hang. A pull tab 70 can be provided to easily open the bag 64, as in the above embodiments. With this arrangement, the bag can be removed from the hat when it is desired to insert articles in the bag or to put them, or when the bag is to be carried in the hand, and can then easily be readied into the hat when it is worn. The lining layer of hook material may be partial or extend throughout the hat, or just along the seams of the hat, but must allow the bag to adhere to the hat so that it is located in the dead space when wear the hat as in the previous modalities. Fig. 8-10 illustrates another alternative embodiment wherein the hat 80 has a removable liner layer 82, which has a bag 84. The lining bag 80 is removably attached around the periphery of the outer layer of hat 86, by suitable strips 88-89, of the Velero hook-loop coupling material, around the inner periphery of the outer layer 86, and the outer shell layer 82, as illustrated in Fig. 8. layer 80 is also fixed to outer layer 86, in cup 90, by a snap fastener or coupling patches 91, 92, of a hook-and-loop fastener material. The lining layer 82 is provided with a cutout opening 93, placed in a place equivalent to the opening 24, in the first embodiment, and the bag 84 has an opening 85, which is suitably sewn around the periphery of the bag. opening 24, bag 84 may be closed by a ziper 94, or other removable fixator or may have opposite strips of fastener material of the hook and loop type, as in the above embodiments, as illustrated in Fig. 8, the bag It will be located in the dead space of the hat. The dropping or hanging of the bag and the lining layer can be reduced by removably attaching the lining layer to the crown of the hat, ensuring that the bag and its contents are within the dead space. The lining layer 82 can be removed from the hat if desired and carried in a bag, alternatively the lining layer can be removed from the hat and turned as in Fig. 9, so that the sailboat strip is inward and the opening of bag 85, outwards. A fastener 95 or fastener 95 is provided to removably close the opening of the inverted liner layer 82, as best illustrated in FIGS. 9 and 10. The closure strip 95 has an elongated central region having a lockable opening by means of a ziper fastener 96, which extends along the opening and waist strips 97, which extend from the central region to allow the bag to be fixed around the user's waist. Fins 98, of the sail material of the loop type are fixed along opposite sides of the central region of the strip 95, to engage with opposite portions of the strip 89, which extend along the ring of the inverted liner 82, as illustrated in Fig. 9. Thus, the closure strip 95 can be used to close the opening formed when the lining layer 82 is reversed and the opposite portions of the peripheral edge of the lining layer 82 are forced toward the lining layer 82. the other to form a bag. The ziper fastener 96 then provides access to the inside of the bag, while the fastener 94 on the outside of the resulting bag provides access to the smaller bag. This arrangement is particularly convenient, since it allows the hat to be used as small items are stored in the bag 84, as well as allowing the removable liner layer and the hat bag to be separated from each other and used as a separate bag. to store larger items, while the hat can still be used without the lining layer. The bag of this invention can be formed by the existing portions of the outer hat and liner layers, when the hat has a separate lining layer, by simply suitably sewing the outer and lining layers together to form three sides of the bag and provide an opening in the lining layer for access to the bag. An example of this alternative is illustrated in Figs. 1-3, alternatively a separate bag layer can be sewn between the outer and liner layers at an equivalent location. In this case, the lining layer is permanently or removably attached to the crown or cup of the outer layer to help prevent the bag and the lining layer from hanging down on the wearer's head due to the existence of heavy items in the lining. the bag. If the hat is of a single layer construction, a separate bag can be fixedly attached to the inner surface of the hat cap in an appropriate position or can be removably attached to the inner surface as in Figs. 6 and 7. The inner surface of the cap can form one side of the bag by a single piece of material stitched to the inner surface to form the other side of the bag, if desired or the bag can be formed in one piece of folded and stitched material along two sides of the hat as in Figs 4 and 5, if desired, the bag may have a waterproof liner layer, so that the contents of the bag can be kept dry at all times. weather conditions and protect yourself from sweat.A waterproof liner is particularly desirable for bags installed in runners 'or bikers' caps, or for hats used in water sports such as yachts, and surfing, in the latter case the cap's visor may be made of a foam material to float in. In each case the material is placed in the so-called hat dead space, which extends from a position just above the user's eyebrows over the entire crown of the head. Hat cap will grab around the periphery of the wearer's head with the hat band, however due to the difference in curvature between the wearer's head and the hat, as noted above, there will be a space between the head of the wearer and the hat. user and hat in places above the band. The bag can extend from a place at a distance above the band to a place next to the crown of the hat and can be confined to the front portion of the hat as in the previous modalities. Alternatively a larger bag can be provided in an equivalent manner, which extends across the entire top of the hat from the front to the back and around the sides of the hat, with all portions of the bag properly spaced over the band. of the hat. By placing the bag in the dead space, the appearance of the hat will not be affected by the items placed in the bag and the user will not experience any discomfort, since the contents are kept away from the head. In all cases of preference the bag is closed by easily releasable coupling strips of hook-and-loop type material, such as Sailboat and a pull-tab attached to the side of the bag to allow the user to open the bag immediately. Other fixators such as ziper can be used alternatively. Although some embodiments of the invention have been described only as an example, it should be understood that there are many modifications that can be made without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
