Description

METHOD AND SYSTEM TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO A NETWORK OF 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to the field of telecommunications. More particularly, the present invention relates to a system and method for establishing a connection through a telecommunications network. 2. Description of the related art In conventional telecommunications systems, a user desires a fast and efficient telecommunications connection service, and often rents a dedicated line from a telephone service provider. For example, in the railroad industry, in the truck industry, in overnight mail delivery services, the FBI, the secret service, and companies with large facilities along with several federal, state, and local government agencies, require REF: 26961 wireless telecommunications to be delivered quickly over a large geographic area. Currently, this is done by renting dedicated lines from base stations to a central switching position. Expenses for such leased lines are usually paid on a monthly basis once a month, costly, and may be disproportionate to the actual use time of the line, since most of the base stations are used sporadically. Often, multiple base stations are connected to a line and these conventional dedicated multipole circuits are difficult to reconfigure as user requirements change. Additionally, the individual circuit legs of dedicated connections are susceptible to problems with noise, imbalance and are difficult to isolate for faults and redirect, which tends to long periods out of service. In addition, there is no redundancy in the network with dedicated lines due to the high installation costs of rent, and the high maintenance and operation costs. Conventional leased lines also lack network-to-network capability through multiple networks and do not support station mobility (ie, transfer) and lack improved communication features. Accordingly, there is a need for fast telecommunications connections without an expensive procedure or other disadvantages associated with conventional leased lines.
The present invention provides fast telecommunications connections without the costs and other disadvantages associated with conventional leased lines. The advantages of the present invention are provided by a system and method for connecting a call through a telecommunications network. According to the invention, a base station, connected to a public switched telephone network, includes a call processor, a memory and a transceiver. The memory includes a database containing dialing instructions for a wireless station for a telephone connection through the public switched telephone network to a destination station. The transceiver receives a call request from the wireless station and the call processor in response to the call request has access to the database and dials a call for connection through the public switched telephone network to the destination station based on the dialing instructions for the wireless station.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING The present invention is illustrated by way of example and without limitation in the accompanying figures in which like reference numbers indicate similar elements, and in which: Figure 1 shows a schematic block diagram of a system for accessing a network of telecommunications in accordance with the present invention; and Figure 2 shows a flow chart for the operation of a system for accessing a telecommunications network, in accordance with the present invention.
DESCRIPTION ntü AT.t.?r > to The present invention provides an efficient and low-cost solution to provide a telecommunications service with plurality of line connections that can be established quickly through a public switched telephone network (PSTN) without incurring the high costs associated with a conventional dedicated line service . The present invention is advantageously used for a telecommunications user to quickly establish critical time connection paths to a destination station while receiving economical usage rates for a PSTN connection. According to the invention, multiple users can use a connection established through the PSTN service to generate a timeshare system that quickly and effectively establishes and decreases call connections according to the expected user traffic protocols. Additionally, well-known DTMF detection and removal techniques can be used to further improve the fast telecommunications interconnection service provided by the present invention. Figure 1 shows a schematic block diagram of a system for quickly establishing a connection through a public switched telephone network (PSTN) 10 in accordance with the present invention. The PSTN 10 includes a plurality of switches (SW) 11 and central offices (CO) 12 that are interconnected by truncal lines 13. A plurality of base stations 14 are connected to the central offices in a well-known manner. The base stations 14 communicate in a well-known manner with wireless terminals, of which only the wireless terminal 20 is shown. The wireless terminal 20 can be stationary or mobile. Each base station 14 includes a call processor 15 coupled to a memory 16 and a transceiver 19. The memory 16 includes a data space portion program 17 where information is stored for a call processor 15, and a portion 18 of memory space in which the database of a user is stored. The user database 18 includes information regarding the user dialing information for each wireless station. The user database 18 also includes call address information for each wireless station 20 to select destination stations. The call processor 15 performs audio and tone detection, storage and removal in connection with the ISDN and / or POTS line interconnection and digital speech processing. When the ISDN service is not available, the call processor 15 provides an installation for a POTS dialing line for voice only, for an X.25 line for a control interconnect. The transceiver 19 operates in a well-known manner to communicate with the mobile station 20. Figure 2 shows a flow chart for operation 21 of a system for accessing a telecommunication network in accordance with the present invention. Upon receiving a call request from a wireless station 20 uniquely identifying the station 20 in step 22, for example by a station identification number, for example, the call processor 15 validates the call request in the step 23 and access the user database 18 in step 24 to obtain dialing instructions associated with the wireless station 20. The calling processor 15 subsequently marks the destination station in step 25 according to the dialing instructions for the wireless station, in order to establish a telecommunications connection in step 26, via PSTN 10, to a radio station. destination using a predetermined shipping path associated with station 20 and the destination station of the call. Once the call is completed, the connection is disconnected by a termination signal from either the wireless station 20 or the destination station, in step 27. The base station 14 also records the user voice signals in the memory 16 so that the user can hang up before the connection is established to the destination station, and therefore reduce the waiting time for the user, specifically for short talk purposes. When the connection is established, the base station 14 then produces voice signals for the destination station. Additionally, the predetermined connection path can be shared with a plurality of different users on a timeshare basis with specific time periods that are submitted to protocol for each user. The default connection path can be maintained after it is established in step 28, even after the user completes signaling, to further improve fast telecommunications connectivity for subsequent calls or for predetermined path connection times in protocol in response to daily traffic patterns. Although the present invention has been described in relation to the illustrated embodiments, it will be appreciated and understood that modifications can be made without departing from the true spirit and scope of the invention. It is noted that in relation to this date, the best method known by the applicant to carry out the aforementioned invention, is the conventional one for the manufacture of the objects to which it relates. Having described the invention as above, property is claimed as contained in the following:
