Abstract
A lockable key (10) has an eye (11) and a shank (12) from which extend two opposite transverse arms (13) in which the eye (11) is articulated and moves between the operating position and bent positions, a quick closing connection acts between the eye (11) and the arms (13), maintains the stable operating position and allows to achieve the bent positions overcoming a given force. The manufacture of this key structure is inexpensive

% LOCKABLE FOLDING KEY, DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The object of the present invention is a lockable wrench. Lockable lock keys, or keys with an eye that bends with respect to the cane, are known. These liabilities are used in particular when, in the position of use, - the eye of the key is projected from the lock in a manner which * constitutes a danger to someone moving or passing by as it may collide with it.; a typical example would be the keys for locks in the drawers of the desks. If it collides with them, the eye bends backwards in a way that prevents the accident. The eye can also stand in the folded position when the key is inserted in the lock, but it is not used3 so that people are prevented from hitting it. The eye of these keys usually comprises a flat element, made of rather rigid plastic, having a "C" shaped cavity that houses a small block, made of the same plastic, from which the cane extends, a tang that is inserted strongly in the wings of the cavity in the form of "C" and in the block allows the eye of the key to rotate with respect to the cane and also has the function of securing the cane in -25 the block, projections are formed in the cavity, and in block REF: 27306 the corresponding holes are formed so that a quick closing connection is produced which keeps the working position of the eye stable and allows the eye to rotate, in other words, to bend with respect to the cane, simply by subtracting a given force. This structure called folding key is expensive to produce because it consists of four pieces. In addition, during the production process, it is first necessary to mold the element
* Flat and the blue, then the rod has to be inserted
in the block, and then the block / shank assembly in the cavity of the flat element, finally, the spigot has to be inserted with great accuracy in the appropriate aligned holes made in the flat element and in the block. The object of the present invention is to provide a lockable key which is cheaper to manufacture and at least as effective as the known folding keys. * This object is achieved by means of a lockable key which comprises an eye and a rod, in which the eye is pivotable with respect to the shaft and moves between the operating position -20 and the bent positions, and in the which provides a fast closing connection which keeps the operating position stable and allows to achieve the bent positions overcoming a given force, characterized in that two opposite transverse arms, on which the eye is articulated, extend from the rod and because the fast connection is between the eye and the arms, in order to achieve a better understanding of the invention, a description of a non-limiting example thereof is given below, which is illustrated in the following paragraphs. accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a partially cut away perspective view of a lockable key according to the invention. * Figure 2 shows the extent to which the eye of the key
Figure 1 can be bent with respect to the cane. Figures 3, 4 and 5 show consecutive side views of the folding movement of the eye of the key of Figure 1 with respect to the shaft; which provide the cited rapid closing connection within the scope of this embodiment of
the invention. For example, the cross section of the arms and the corresponding shape of the ends of the core may have a polygonal shape different from the quadrilateral shape. The core can be made of a suitable material, not simply metallic. The wrapper, too, can be made of any soft material. It would also be possible to provide for the realization of the eye with a rigid material, instead of soft, with suitable notches or equivalent provisions to make it yield elastically. It would also be possible to omit the nucleus and make the eye with a m_a
Rigid material, again with means for causing it to yield elastically and also with suitably shaped portions, which correspond to the profiled ends of the core which are attached to the arms of the rod. In cases like these, there is also the advantage of low production costs, - however, the advantages that come from having a soft material eye would be lost. The arms could have a circular cross-section and the profiled ends of the core or the shaped parts of the eye could be quickly closed by projections and e_n
trantes formed in the arms and at the profiled or - respectively sides. However, the embodiment of the specific invention illustrated in the example cited above has shown, however, to be especially advantageous. 15 The collapsible key described above can be used in any situation requiring a collapsed eye. It is noted that in relation to this date, the best method known by the applicant to carry out the aforementioned invention, is the conventional one for the manufacture of the
objects or products to which it refers. Having described the invention as above, property is claimed as contained in the following:
Claims (7)
1. - Locking key lock comprising an eye and a rod, in which the eye is not articulated with respect to the rod and moves between the operating position and the bent positions, and in which a quick-closing connection is provided which maintains the position of function stable and allows the bent positions to be obtained by overcoming a given force, characterized in that - two opposite transverse arms, on which the eye is articulated, extend from the rod and because the connection of Quick closure acts between the eye and the arms. 2.- Hinged key according to claim 1, characterized in that the eye comprises a core that is articulated on the arms and is embedded in a casing. 3. Folding key according to claim 2, characterized in that the arms have a polygonal cross section, the core is composed of a metal plate for springs with profiled ends that encloses the arms, following their shape and the sheath yields elastically, the connection between said profiled extruders and the arms forming the aforementioned quick-closing connection, the sheet metal part opening and closing again as it rotates around the arms in order to pass over the edges of the arms in a manner that allows - the eye pass quickly and elastically from the operating position to the stable bent position and vice versa. 4. Swivel key according to claim 3, characterized in that the cross section of the arms is quadrilateral in order to allow the eye to bend up to 903 in both directions with respect to the shank. 5 .- Swivel key according to any of claims 2, 3, 4, characterized in that the core is made of metal and - the shell is made of plastic. * 6.- Folding key according to claim 5, character¬ 10 because the wrap is made of silicone rubber. 7. Method for producing the key cited in claims 3 to 6, characterized in that the core is first attached to the arms, the core is then tightened around the arms and, finally, the envelope enclosing the arm is molded. core. fifteen F twenty
