Description

ADEQUATE BAG TO RETURN TO CLOSE AND ZIPPER FOR THE SAME Background of the Invention The present invention relates to a resealable package and, in particular, to a resealable package, which can be formed, filled and sealed easily and, furthermore, that is relatively easy for a consumer to open it and close it again. Resealable plastic bags are gaining popularity both as storage packaging and as primary packaging. These bags depend on the shape or contours of the zipper, which coincides to form the closure, which a consumer can easily separate. For primary packaging, it is usually important that the packaging is formed in an FFS type equipment (form, fill and seal) in the food processor facilities. It is also important that the packaging be able to be sealed (not simply closed with the zipper connection) to preserve the freshness of the food it contains and that it is proof of mismanagement or, at least, provides evidence that it has been open. This means that you must first open the seal of the package and then have access to the closure, so you can open the closure to access the contents of the bag. Then, any remaining portion of the packaged product, due to the presence of the closure, can be put back in the original package and closed, to be stored. For seal removal it is required, whether the consumer uses scissors or a knife to open the bag on top of the zipper, or that the package has a separation cord or separation strip for this purpose. While it is relatively easy to provide these tear strips or tear strips in the bags where the closure runs parallel to the direction in which the film runs, from which the bag is formed, it is a bit more complicated to do so when the closure it runs transversely to the direction in which the film runs, as in U.S. Patent 4,655,862 or 5,431,845. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The main objective of the present invention is to provide an improved zipper for reclosable packaging and improved resealable type packaging incorporating this zipper. Another objective is to provide a package with mechanisms that show that the package has been opened, to seal and protect the contents of the package. Still another objective is to provide a package that the consumer can easily open, without the need for implements for cutting, tear-off cords or the like.
Still another objective is to provide a resealable package, in which the zipper outline is easily used with the appropriate FFS (form, fill and seal) equipment, so that the closure can be placed in parallel or transverse to the direction to which the film from which the package is made or forms runs. The above, and other, objectives and advantages are achieved in accordance with the present invention by providing a resealable package which has a first and second walls having free edges defining for top of the package. The zipper is secured to the packing between the walls of the bag, at the top of the package. The rack comprises a first member of the rack and a second member, both rack members having contours that engage therein. The first member of the rack comprises a longitudinally extending portion of the contour and a portion of the rim disposed above and coextensive with the portion of the contour. A perforated line extends longitudinally along and coextensive with the portion of the flange. The second member of the rack comprises a cord contour (ie without flange), complementary to the contour of the first member of the rack. The portion of the flange of the first member of the zipper is secured to one of the walls of the bag, in the longitudinally extending area disposed above and below the perforated line. The flange also connects to the opposite wall of the bag, but only in the area above the perforated line. The second member of the zipper also connects to the opposite wall of the bag, but only in the area below the perforated line. A separation cut is provided on one side of the package aligned with the perforated line. If desired, a releasable sealant material, extending longitudinally and disposed below the perforated line between the rim and the opposite wall of the bag, can be provided. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Figure 1 is a perspective view of a package according to the present invention; Figure 2 is a fragmentary side elevation view taken along section lines 2-2 of Figure 1; Figure 3 is an enlarged view of the components of the package of Figure 1; Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 2 presenting the package after the top seal is removed and the peelable seal is broken; and Figure 5 is a view similar to Figure 4 in which an alternative construction of the package according to the present invention is appreciated.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Reference is now made to the drawings and, in particular to Figure 1, wherein a package or bag 10 formed of a plastic film or sheet and using a zipper according to the present invention is presented. invention. The bag 10 comprises the front and rear walls 12, 14, a lower part 16, an upper part and the sides 20, 22. Depending on the shape of the plastic sheet and the position of the joints or seams, one or both sides 20, 22 can be made by sealing the front and back walls or by bending them, if the walls of the bag are formed from the same sheet of plastic film. The lower part 16, likewise, can be formed by sealing the front and rear walls together or bending them in a common sheet of material, again this depends on the orientation of the contours with respect to the film and the joints that are to be formed. use to form the package. The contours can be extended parallel or transversely to the direction of the film running, as they are formed in the bag, depending on the nature of the FFS type equipment (form, fill and seal) that is used to form the bag . As shown in Figure 3, a zipper 24 is provided in the upper part of the bag between the walls thereof. The rack 24 comprises a front closure member 26 and a second closure member 28. The rack member 26 includes a longitudinally extending contour portion 30 and a longitudinally extending flange portion 32. The flange portion 32 it is placed on top of the contour portion 30 and runs towards the top 18 of the bag 10. The perforated line 34 extends longitudinally along the rim 32. As shown, the contour portion 30 has the shape of a head asymmetric arrow designed to mate with the corresponding female contour 36 of the rack member 28. The rack member 28 also known as a "cord" closure since it does not have a flange portion above or below the contour. This means that the base of the contour is attached directly to the film of the bag. It should be noted that the shape of the contours 30 and 36 is immaterial to the present invention since they are complementary to each other, in such a way that they can be coupled with each other. A first adhesive or sealant 38 is provided to the rack member 26 in a longitudinally extending area disposed both above and below the perforated line 34. The sealant 38 serves to attach the flanges 32 to the wall of the bag 12, in FIG. an area extending on both sides of the perforated line 34. A second adhesive or sealant 40, extending longitudinally, is provided on the opposite side of flange 32, but in an area that is disposed only above the perforated line 34. The second sealant 40 serves to join the flange 32 to the wall of the bag 14. A third sealant 42, extending longitudinally, is provided in the base of the member of the rack 28, opposite the contour and serves to join the cord from the zipper to the wall of the bag 14. It should be noted, that all of the sealants 38, 40 and 42 can be formed from the same material, such as for example a heat-activated adhesive or a meltable material. It should also be appreciated that the sealers 38, 40 and 42 can be integrally formed and comprise the same material as the contours 26 and 28, although in doing so, it is somewhat more difficult to join the closing only in the desired areas of union, which requires very precise heating elements to join the closure to the walls of the bag. Accordingly, the use of sealants separated from the closure members is preferred. The same can be said of the sealants for the alternative embodiment described below. For additional protection of the contents in the package 10, there is provided, on the same side of the flange 26, a longitudinally extending line of releasable sealing material 44, as a sealant 40 but below the perforated line 34. The material 44 forms a tear-off seal between the flange 26 and the wall 26 Bag 14. These tearable seals are well known and widely used to form seals that open easily in plastic containers. As shown in Figure 2, the free edges 46 and 48 of the walls of the bag 12 and 14 meet and join in a seal with the top portion of the flange 26. The seal is formed when the sealants 38 and 40 are sealed. activate At this point, the packaging is shown in Figure 2 with the contents of the gasket sealed below the seal and also under the tear seal, if a release seal is also used. The cut 50 is provided on one or both sides of the bag. The cut is aligned with the perforated line 34 and allows the user, who wants to open the package for the first time, to begin releasing the plastic material. The release process occurs naturally along the perforation line 34. As a result, the head 52 (ie, the portion of the package above the perforation line 34) will be separated from the bag and can be removed. The user can thus continue the opening of the package by pulling the walls of the bag 12 and 14, separating them which will result in the tearing of the seal 44 detaching as shown in Figure 4. Then, if the user continues to pull the walls of the bag. the bag can access the package separating contours 30 and 36. Then, the user can close the package again if it joins the contours again.
In Figure 5 an alternative construction of a package according to the present invention is described. According to this embodiment, both members of the rack 50 and 52 have ridges, although the rim 54 of the member 50 is substantially longer than the rim 56 of the rack member 52. A sealant or strip is provided. adhesive 58 directly below the contour 60 of the member 52 and another adhesive sealant or strip 62 is provided on the top of the rim 64 of the member 52. A series of gripping ribs 66 are provided on the rim 64. The rack member 50 is substantially the same as that of the rack member 26 of the first embodiment except that the gripping ribs 66 are also provided in the flange 54. Separable seal cords 68 are provided on the interior surfaces of the flanges 54 and 56, aligned therebetween and positioned above the grip ribs 66, but below the perforated line 70 of the rim 54. The rim 54 connects to the interior surface of the rim 54. wall of the bag 14 by means of a sealant or adhesive strip 72 which is placed only above the perforated line 70. A sealant or an adhesive strip 74 connects the rim 54 with the interior surface of the wall of the bag 12, from the upper part of the ridge, above the perforated line, to a point below the separable seal 68. The construction and operation of the pouch of this embodiment with different to that described above, in relation to the first embodiment. It should be appreciated that the zipper described is particularly suitable for transverse applications in the packaging film, since there is no tear cord or the like which is tested during the application of the zipper on the film. Therefore, in accordance with the above, the aforementioned objectives were achieved.
