Extract of the Invention
The present invention relates to a disposable syringe construction that includes a retractable or removable needle, comprising a cylindrical body, defining at one end thereof an end piece for the connection of the needle and being open, in the other end, to receive a piston there, provided with a sealing gasket.
The main feature of the invention is that the end piece is provided inside with a cut to engage with the stop legs of a hub element to which the point of the needle is connected, an outer ring being further provided, which can be applied to the end of the end piece so as to prevent the hub and the related needle from being ejected outwards.
Background of the Invention
The present invention relates to a disposable syringe construction provided with a retractable or removable needle.
As is known, a very important problem for making disposable syringes is that the possibility of the reuse of said syringes and that of preventing the needle accidentally injuring the user who handles the syringe with needle is provided.
The above solutions for solving the aforementioned problem usually provide for the use of syringes including flexible means for causing the syringe needle to retract into the syringe.
These types of syringes, however, besides being very expensive, have the disadvantage that they involve the modification of the method of conventional use of syringes, since, when making a perforation with it, it is usually necessary to overcome a flexible opposition force.
Other prior solutions, which do not provide for the use of flexible means, comprise connecting elements for coupling the needle to the syringe body, whose connecting elements, however, do not provide secure securing of the needle in its intended position and, in addition, , they are very complex from a construction point of view.
Summary of the Invention
Therefore, the object of the present invention is to overcome the aforementioned disadvantages, by providing a disposable syringe construction, including a retractable needle, which provides the possibility of causing the needle to be easily withdrawn into the syringe body , without the need to use return springs, while providing the possibility of safely securing the needle from its intended position of use.
Within the scope of the above-mentioned object, a main object of the present invention is to provide such a disposable syringe construction providing the possibility of causing the needle to be withdrawn into the syringe by using very simple and mechanically reliable means.
Another object of the present invention is to provide such a disposable syringe construction which can be made by simple component elements, thus providing large economic advantages.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide such a disposable syringe construction which, due to its construction characteristics, is very reliable and safe in operation.
According to one aspect of the present invention, the objects and ends mentioned above, as well as other objects, which will become more apparent thereafter, are achieved by a disposable syringe construction, provided with a retractable needle comprising a cylindrical body that defines, at one end thereof, an end piece for the connection of a needle and being open, in another end part thereof, for receiving a piston element provided with a plunger, characterized in that said end piece is provided with an internal cut to engage with the butt legs of a hub to which the needle is connected, An outer ring is further provided, which can be applied to said end piece, by undoing a part of the end piece, to prevent said hub and needle from being ejected outwardly.
Brief Description of the Drawings
The additional features and advantages of the present invention will be more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of a disposable syringe construction, seen with a retractable needle, which is illustrated, by a way of indication, but as a non-limiting example, in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is an exploded view in schematic cross section showing the cylindrical body of the syringe with the needle thereof connected to a barrel element or hub;
Figure 2 is a schematic top plan view of the hub element;
Figure 3 illustrates a connecting passage for connecting said hub element with the syringe needle in the end part of the cylindrical body;
Figure 4 illustrates the application of the ring to the end piece of the syringe;
Figure 5 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a method for securing the ring element included in the syringe by disturbing the forming material thereof;
Figure 6 is a cross-sectional view of the syringe in a condition ready for use;
Figure 7 depicts the syringe at the end of a piercing operation;
Figure 8 illustrates an operation step in which the piston element to which the syringe needle is connected is removed.
Figure 9 is a cross-sectional view on an enlarged scale, showing the syringe needle withdrawn into the cylindrical body of the syringe; and Figure 10 is a cross-sectional view illustrating an operation step in which the piston is broken as to prevent the syringe from being used again.
Description of the Preferred Modality
With reference to the numerous references of the figures indicated above, the disposable syringe construction, provided with a retractable needle according to the present invention, comprises a cylindrical body 1 which is provided in an end part thereof, with a part of end 2, to which a needle is connected, said needle being generally indicated with the reference number 3.
Within the cylindrical body 1 a piston, generally indicated with the reference number 4, can be engaged, said piston being provided with a sealing gasket or a rubber sealing element 5.
A first feature of the present invention is that the end piece 2 is provided, in its interior, with a cutting part 10 that operates as a latching element for the drum or hub portion 11 of the needle 3.
More specifically, this drum hub part 11 is provided in its inner end part, with the ears 12 and 13 which can be elastically contracted, and including the stop legs 14 engaging in said cuts 10, to prevent the The needle is removed from the inside of the cylindrical body 1.
In addition, the drum 11 is provided with a polygonal hole 15 in which the point 16 of the needle 3 is strongly engaged, in a manner known per se.
In order to provide a firm connection, after having inserted the needle 3 by pushing the hub as to cause the stop legs 14 of the hub to engage in the cut 10, an outer ring 20 is applied, which, more specifically, it is applied on the end part of the end piece 2 and is pushed as to disturb the material, at the end of a piece, to provide a narrow region, indicated with the number 21 in figure 5, adapted to operate as a closing element to prevent the needle 3 from being withdrawn from the cylindrical body.
As shown, the piston 4 is provided, at the end portion of the plunger 5, with a blind hole 30, including a locking ring 31, adapted to engage with the ends of the ears 12 and 13 of the hub 11 of the needle 3, so as to cause them to contract, thus causing the ears to connect inside the hole or seat 20, and fixing the tooth element 32, provided in one of the ears, for example the ear 13, with respect to the ring close 31.
Therefore, the needle is more rigid with the end part of the piston.
By exerting a pull force, and due to the fact that the ears 12 and 13 have contracted, the legs 14 are unhooked from the cut 10, whereby the needle can also be disengaged and have it withdrawn into the cylinder .
The provision of a single ear with a closure element, while the other ear operates as a guide element, causes the needle, when withdrawn within the cylinder 11, to be tilted through a few degrees, usually about 5 °. .
Therefore, the needle tip will move laterally, so that the needle does not require to be removed further to reuse the syringe.
In addition, as shown, the rod or rod 40 of the piston 4 is provided with notches 41, in an intermediate portion thereof, allowing the rod or rod to be easily broken, by removing the end portion including the button element of the piston rod. push 42, in order to provide a pushing force.
With the described arrangement, a very functional syringe is provided which can not be reused, which is obtained by very simple means and which, however, is specifically adapted to allow the needle to always be firmly held in its position of use, while being released safely when the new piston is removed.
The invention as described is susceptible to various modifications and variations all of which fall within the scope of the inventive idea.
